A Black Girl Tells Patrick Mahomes, “You’re My Dad”—His Response Changed Her Life Forever!
Patrick Mahomes was enjoying a quiet afternoon when a small voice interrupted his thoughts. “Excuse me, mister,” a little girl said, tugging on his jacket. He looked down to see a tiny figure with big brown eyes, a mix of hope and fear in her expression. She couldn’t have been more than eight years old. “Are you my dad?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Patrick was taken aback. Of all the things he expected to hear that day, this was definitely not one of them. He crouched down to her level, looking into her eyes. “I’m not your dad,” he said softly. “But why do you think I am?”
The girl hesitated, glancing down at her shoes. “My mom told me that one day my dad would come back for me,” she whispered. “When I saw you, I just thought maybe it’s you.”
Patrick felt a strange tug in his heart. This wasn’t just a random question; something deeper was going on. “Where is your mom?” he asked, looking around. The girl pointed toward a small coffee shop across the street. Inside, he could see a woman sitting alone, her face tired, gripping a cup of coffee as if it were the only thing keeping her together.
“Let’s go talk to your mom together,” Patrick suggested, offering his hand. The girl looked at it for a long moment before slowly taking it.
As they entered the coffee shop, the woman’s eyes widened in recognition. She was clearly startled to see Patrick Mahomes. “Mom, I found Dad!” the girl exclaimed, running up to her. The woman’s face paled, and her hands trembled as she set down her cup. “Sweetheart, he’s not your dad,” she said quietly, her voice filled with regret.
Patrick sat down at their table, trying to make sense of the situation. “I’m sorry for the confusion,” he said gently. “But your daughter seems to think I’m her father.” The woman sighed, covering her face with her hands. “It’s been hard,” she admitted. “I haven’t been able to give her the answers she needs. We’re going through a tough time right now.”
Patrick felt his heart sink. It was clear that this family was struggling, and the little girl had latched onto the idea that maybe her father was someone like him—someone who could take away their pain. “Is there something I can do to help?” he asked, surprising even himself.
The woman looked shocked. “I can’t accept that,” she said, shaking her head. “I’ve been trying to manage on my own.” But the little girl spoke up, her voice trembling. “Please, Mom. Maybe we could try just this once. I’m tired of being scared all the time.”
Her words hit hard. The mother’s face crumpled, and she looked at Patrick with a mix of gratitude and shame. “I don’t want to be a burden,” she whispered.
“You’re not,” Patrick said firmly. “Everyone needs help sometimes.” He leaned forward, his eyes gentle. “Let me help you—not just with money, but with a fresh start.”
Over the next few days, Patrick made arrangements to help the mother and daughter. He contacted connections to set up a job interview for the mother and arranged a meeting with a financial adviser. As the little girl watched her mother’s hope grow, she felt a sense of excitement for the first time in a long while.
Weeks passed, and the mother began her new job. It was tough, but she felt a renewed sense of purpose. Patrick checked in on them regularly, not as a superstar but as a friend. The little girl, who once thought Patrick might be her dad, now saw him as a mentor.
One day, while sitting in the park, the little girl asked, “Why did you help us?” Patrick paused, reflecting. “Because I saw something in you,” he replied. “You reminded me that sometimes the smallest people can be the strongest.”
A year later, the little girl and her mother were thriving. The struggles they faced were still part of their story, but they were now defined by their strength and resilience. Patrick remained a part of their lives, a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness could create lasting change.
Their journey was just beginning, filled with hope, laughter, and the knowledge that they had each other to lean on.

Patrick Mahomes’ biggest fan just might be his daughter!
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 29, played against the Houston Texans on Saturday, Dec. 21, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, brought the whole family to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., to cheer on Patrick.
Brittany, also 29, shared several real-time videos and photos from the game on her Instagram Stories. The first featured a clip of the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye, wearing a cozy white hat and a Chiefs red long-sleeved shirt while excitedly clapping her hands as her dad’s face appeared on the Jumbotron. Sterling could also be seen cutely clutching her mom’s hand in the moments beforehand as they sat inside a stadium suite.

And the Mahomes family fan club is about to get a little bigger: Brittany is pregnant and expecting the couple’s third baby. On Dec. 2, the expectant mom shared black-and-white maternity photos with her followers on Instagram. In the images, she could be seen cradling her belly in a long black maxi skirt and matching long-sleeved black shirt.
“Baby girl🥹🤍,” she captioned the post.
Patrick wasn’t the only player getting next-level support at the game. Taylor Swift was spotted entering Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The pop star bundled up in a stylish red coat and a black fur hat.
The Chiefs were expected to face a tough opponent in their matchup against the Texans and already experienced an unexpected setback earlier this week when Patrick was sidelined due to an ankle injury during his team’s Dec. 15 game against the Cleveland Browns. It was unclear whether the quarterback would be able to play in Saturday’s game, but Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed that Patrick would be starting in a Thursday, Dec. 19 statement, according to ESPN.

“I’ve been through it with him before,” Reid said, referring to Patrick overcoming previous injuries. “And he amazed me every time he does it. The guy, he’s been so mentally tough and just puts it into a mindset that he has going into it [from] where he was a few days ago.”
And it seems betting on Patrick paid off: The Chiefs came out victorious in their Dec. 21 game, beating the Texans 27-19. This puts their record for the 2024-2025 NFL season at 14 wins and just one loss.
