MiLaysia Fulwiley is one of the most electrifying players in college basketball – and now she’s on the move.
The South Carolina guard, who helped the Gamecocks win a national championship as a freshman in 2024, has officially entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag. That typically signals a player already knows where they’re headed.

Fulwiley’s departure from Dawn Staley’s powerhouse program comes despite her being a major contributor—and arguably the face of the team. In just two seasons, she racked up accolades, including SEC Tournament MVP, SEC All-Freshman Team and a program record for most three-pointers in an NCAA Tournament game. She averaged 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals her freshman year, and repeated a nearly identical stat line in her sophomore season, all while averaging just 18.9 minutes per game.
So the big question now is: Where will Fulwiley make her next splash? Here are a few high-profile destinations that could be a fit for her star power:
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish have a major hole to fill after Olivia Miles transferred to TCU. Miles averaged 33 minutes, 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals this season, so Fulwiley could step into a spotlight role quickly.
Plus, she’d play under legendary coach Niele Ivey and alongside rising star Hannah Hidalgo, making for one of the most dynamic backcourts in the country. Bonus: Notre Dame is an Under Armour school, and Fulwiley is already signed with the brand. That could tip the scales.
Ole Miss
Ole Miss was one of Fulwiley’s top finalists before she committed to South Carolina. Now, she could circle back to the Rebels, who are thriving under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, with four straight NCAA tournament appearances.
The Rebels just landed elite Ohio State forward Cotie McMahon, and pairing her with Fulwiley could create a title-contending squad. There’s history here—and a lot of potential for fireworks.
Clemson
Is Fulwiley staying close to home? Clemson is just two hours from her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, and a move there would let her remain in-state while getting more minutes and a starring role.
New head coach Shawn Poppie is looking to rebuild the program after a 14–17 season. Fulwiley could be the centerpiece of that rebuild and the leader of the Tigers’ ACC resurgence.
LSU
LSU fans are buzzing about the possibility of Fulwiley joining the Tigers, South Carolina’s SEC rival. Head coach Kim Mulkey has a reputation for producing winners, and though LSU is loaded with guards like Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams, Fulwiley’s skillset would still be a game-changer.
With Aneesah Morrow (a key forward) departing, there’s room for Fulwiley to come in and shift the offensive balance.
Louisville
If Fulwiley wants to play for a proven winner and get big minutes, Louisville might be the place. Head coach Jeff Walz has made the Cardinals a national force, boasting four straight ACC regular season titles (2018–2021) and a 71.9% NCAA Tournament win percentage.
Fulwiley could be the next big name to shine in Louisville’s system, just like Hailey Van Lith before her. It’s a team with history, momentum and room for a new star.
No matter where she lands, one thing’s for sure: MiLaysia Fulwiley is bound to make an immediate—and unforgettable—impact.
