“Make America ‘Sharia-Free’”: Chip Roy and Keith Self Sound Alarm on ‘Radical Islamist’ Threat in Fiery House Floor Speeches

‘Civilization Jihad’: Chip Roy and Keith Self Issue Chilling Warning of ‘Radical Islamist’ Threat to American Sovereignty

'Make America SHARIA-FREE!': Chip Roy, Keith Self warn of 'radical Islamist' threat at House floor

In a session of Congress that will likely be remembered for its raw intensity and controversial declarations, Representatives Chip Roy and Keith Self of Texas have sounded a thunderous alarm regarding the future of the United States. Speaking from the House floor, the lawmakers detailed what they describe as a “civilization jihad”—a systematic, ideological, and political effort by radical Islamist entities to establish a permanent footprint in America and eventually replace its constitutional values with Sharia law. Their warnings were not merely theoretical; they were anchored in a recent local tragedy that has left the community of Austin, Texas, reeling and questioning the failures of the nation’s immigration and vetting systems.

The catalyst for this impassioned address was a senseless act of violence on West Sixth Street in Austin, a vibrant area frequented by students and locals. Congressman Roy recounted the harrowing details of a shooting that claimed the lives of three people, including students from the University of Texas and Texas Tech. But it was the profile of the shooter that Roy highlighted as a symptom of a much larger, systemic crisis. The individual responsible was reportedly wearing a “Property of Allah” sweatshirt, had an Iranian flag t-shirt underneath, and a Quran in his vehicle.  Investigation revealed he was a Senegalese national who overstayed a visa in 2000, obtained legal residency through a marriage under the Bush administration, and was granted full citizenship during the Obama era—an administration Roy criticized for handing out citizenship “like candy.”

“Why are we importing people who are deeply at odds with the values of our country and Western civilization?” Roy asked, his voice filled with urgency.  This question formed the core of his argument: that the United States is intentionally, or through gross negligence, allowing the entry of individuals and ideologies that seek to dismantle the very foundations of the Enlightenment and the Constitution.

Congressman Keith Self joined the discussion to highlight the rapid physical expansion of this ideology within the state of Texas. He noted that 48 new mosques have been built in Texas in just the last two years—a pace of roughly one per month, which he characterized as the fastest in the nation. Self pointed to “Epic City,” a proposed 400-acre “Muslim-only” compound in North Texas, as a prime example of how contract law and American freedoms are being weaponized to create segregated communities that do not share traditional American values.

The lawmakers painted a disturbing picture of “no-go zones” emerging in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, such as Richardson and Arlington, where women reportedly feel “immersed in the Middle East” and increasingly uncomfortable.  Self argued that the radical Islamic view of women—referencing imams who allegedly compare women to animals or property—is “totally anathema” to the American vision of equality and individual rights. He warned that the U.S. is on a path to mirroring the United Kingdom, which he claimed is currently plagued by Sharia courts and “rape gangs” that operate with terrifying impunity.

The debate also touched upon the historical precedent of American leaders confronting Islamic extremism. Roy referenced Thomas Jefferson’s encounters with the Barbary pirates, noting that even the founders recognized the direct conflict between the Islamic faith’s implementation of Sharia law and the values of the burgeoning American nation.

Roy was particularly critical of the current “touchy-feely nonsense” and “wide-open borders” of the Biden administration, which he dubbed the “Biden-Mayorkas regime.”  He argued that the threat is not limited to illegal immigration but extends to the “irresponsible” legal immigration policies that favor quantity over ideological compatibility. “They do not wish to melt into the pot; they wish to take over the country and change it,” Roy asserted.

The session concluded with a call to action. Roy and Self have co-founded the “Sharia-Free America Caucus,” which currently boasts 46 members. They invited their colleagues from both sides of the aisle to join a movement dedicated to ensuring that Sharia law never takes root on American soil. For these lawmakers, the shooting in Austin was not an isolated incident of “normal violence,” but a wake-up call for a nation they believe is sleepwalking into its own destruction. They demand a return to common sense: a system that welcomes those who venerate American heritage and support the motto “In God We Trust,” while firmly shutting the door on those who wish to undo it.
