Landed New Job After UCLA Firing, Eric Bieniemy Confirms Why Andy Reid Outshines Patrick Mahomes in Chiefs’ Success

Landed New Job After UCLA Firing, Eric Bieniemy Confirms Why Andy Reid Outshines Patrick Mahomes in Chiefs’ Success

For 4 years, Eric Bieniemy spent time as the offensive coordinator under head coach Andy Reid. So, it’s obvious he knows the Kansas City Chiefs’s head coach very well. Gearing up for his new job in 2025, Bieniemy revealed one thing that sets Reid apart from all.

Eric Bienemy joined an interview with NFL Network insider, Tom Pelissero, on New Year’s Eve. When the journalist asked him what sets the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes apart, especially having such consistency, he surprised all. Bieniemy skipped Mahomes’s success and talked about the main character in the team. The one who has helped the franchise in winning championships–Andy Reid.

Bieniemy said, “The thing that allows them to have the consistency, first of all, is they have one of the best Hall of Fame coaches. You know, in our modern-day era, Coach Reid has done a heck of a job. But on top of that, Coach Reid has done a great job of building a culture and getting these guys to understand.” It’s true, Mahomes has helped the team win three Super Bowls during his stint. But as Bieniemy emphasized, coach Andy Reid has done a great job in maintaining the culture.

Hence, as per Bieniemy, Reid outshines Mahomes and others in stats, as he said, “I’m talking about all the personal stats. Personal stats do not mean anything. It’s about those two little alphabets and one that says W and L. When it’s all said and done with, you got to find a way to make sure collectively….” And the person behind all these management and strategies is definitely Andy Reid.

In addition, the former NFL coordinator further added that Andy Reid has instilled a mindset where every player commits to giving their all for 60 minutes, leaving personal glory aside. Their goal is to win together as a team, clean up mistakes later, and always keep their eyes on the prize.

According to Bieniemy, for Andy Reid and his team, it’s about dominating the AFC West, securing home-field advantage, and ultimately winning the Super Bowl. And that unselfish culture is why the Chiefs have soared to a remarkable 15-1 record. They are marching towards achieving a 3-peat this season.

Eric Bieniemy and Reid have been good friends since their Chiefs stint together. This is also evident in Reid’s early remarks in February. At that time, Bieniemy was released from the Commanders. But the HC believed in him, saying his coaching future was “great.” Nevertheless, at the moment, Eric Bienemy is on a roller coaster ride in his coaching career.

Andy Reid’s friend Eric Bieniemy bagged his next role!

After his exit from the Commanders, Bieniemy joined UCLA for a season. However, under him, the team struggled finishing 5-7. Hence, Bienemy and UCLA parted ways after one season.

But now, as per reporter Richard Cheese CFB on X, “Eric Bieniemy will be joining the Washington Huskies coaching staff as an offensive analyst. The two time Super Bowl Champ, former Kansas City Chiefs OC from ‘18-22, OC of the Washington Commanders in ‘23, and the UCLA OC in ‘24 joins the Huskies star studded staff.” Despite winning multiple Super Bowls, Andy Reid’s friend never received the head coaching job in his career.

Nevertheless, with his new job at the Huskies, he brings 16 years of NFL experience. So, it remains to be seen what’s next in store for him. Will he lead his new team to victory? Or will the firing stages continue for him?
