The WNBA star is facing a huge decision over her future, with the Unrivaled basketball league a potential destination for the 22 year old.

Caitlin Clark, the WNBA sensation, has been cautioned about a potential career blunder amidst her skyrocketing fame. The 22-year-old basketball star, who set rookie records with 769 points, 337 assists, and 223 turnovers, has become a hot commodity after an outstanding debut season with the Indiana Fever, earning a spot on the All-WNBA First Team and securing numerous sponsorship deals.
Her success has drawn attention from the newly established Unrivaled Basketball League, which features a 3-on-3 format that debuted at the Olympics in Paris this year. Several WNBA players have already inked deals to join the league starting in January.
Despite the buzz, Clark has remained tight-lipped about her involvement with Unrivaled. However, sports pundit Jason Whitlock has strongly advised against her joining the league, suggesting it would be a grave mistake.
He believes the WNBA’s support for Unrivaled is self-serving and has bluntly told Clark, according the Express: “Caitlin, please do everything in your power, avoid the Unrivaled basketball league,” adding, “It’s a disaster in the making. The dumbest idea that I’ve ever heard. You don’t want to be associated with it.”

“The league is not going to work. People have no interest in watching women play 3-on-3 basketball. It’s a dumb idea. It’s controlled opposition, it’s a gimmick to stop Caitlin Clark and anyone else from launching a true competitor to the WNBA. They don’t want rivals.”
As of now, none of the Fever players have committed to the new 3-on-3 format, despite 26 out of 30 players being confirmed for participation. The league has secured a lucrative TV deal with TNT Sports, ensuring significant revenue even if the first season doesn’t hit the mark.
Whitlock has once again made headlines with his controversial take on Clark. After previously singing her praises, he has since criticized her behavior on the court, remarking last month: “The whining, the complaining, the flopping, the victimhood, the tongue-wagging, the hyper-focus on engaging with fans and arguing with referees. I can’t take it.”
Should Clark decide to join Unrivaled, she wouldn’t be able to fully train with the Fever until the 2025 WNBA season kicks off. Moreover, her participation could interfere with her golf pursuits, as she has expressed a desire to dedicate time to her off-season hobby.
Clark is set to tee off next month at an LPGA Tour pro-am event hosted by the legendary Annika Sorenstam. Taking place on November 13 at Florida’s Pelican Golf Club, the tournament will also feature other celebrities and top female golfers.
