The honeymoon is officially over. The “miracle” of Tampa Bay has evaporated in the chilling air of Buffalo, and the Montreal Canadiens are currently staring at a reality that should have every fan from Brossard to the Plateau shaking with fear. On Wednesday night at the KeyBank Center, the “Doberman”—Jakub Dobeš—didn’t just lose a hockey game; he performed a public act of statistical suicide.

Let’s look at the numbers, and if you have a weak stomach, look away. Four goals on sixteen shots.
That is not an NHL performance; that is a target practice session for the Buffalo Sabres. In the highest-pressure environment of the second round, Dobeš posted a revolting .750 save percentage. While the hockey world was busy praising his “mental toughness” and his work with a psychology coach, the Buffalo Sabres were busy proving that mindset doesn’t matter if you can’t stop a beach ball.
Henrik Lundqvist, the legendary “King” who was crucified by Habs fans last week for ranking Dobeš as the worst goalie remaining in the East, is currently sitting in a TV studio somewhere looking like a prophet. Dobeš didn’t just “struggle”; he was exposed as a rookie who is clearly drowning in the deep end of the pool. When you allow four goals on sixteen shots, you aren’t just “unlucky”—you are a liability. You are the reason a 106-point team is currently one game away from a total season collapse.
The Buffalo Sabres didn’t even have to be great. They were opportunistic. Tage Thompson and the “New Kid Line” smelled the fear coming from the Montreal crease and pounced. While Montreal’s offense actually showed signs of life, it didn’t matter because every time the Sabres crossed the blue line, the puck ended up in the back of the net.
Martin St. Louis is now facing the biggest crisis of his coaching career. Do you go back to the kid who just gave up a touchdown on sixteen tries? Or do you admit that the “Doberman” era was a fluke and pray that Samuel Montembeault or Jacob Fowler has a miracle left in the tank? The Sabres are a wagon, and tonight, Jakub Dobeš was the flat tire that stopped the Canadiens’ momentum dead in its tracks. If #35 doesn’t find his hands by Friday, the “Wolf of Montreal” is going to be howling at the moon on a golf course by next week.

Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) realizes something is very wrong with Cullum’s (Andrew Hawkes) shooting. Jason (Steve Burton) was most likely not the culprit, and certainly should not have been taken away by the WSB. He is now on a mission to find out the truth.
Cullum already has eyes on Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He knows that she was once involved with Jason and that they share a son. She got the creeps when he questioned her in his hospital room.
Dante and Liz have been slowly growing closer, so when he needed help from the hospital, he ran to her. The Acting PCPD Commissioner was looking for a blood sample from Cullum. Elizabeth knew she could get in big trouble for doing so, but she quickly and quietly handed over the sample. Liz knows that the WSB agent is bad news, and she will do anything to help Jason.
Cullum is bad, very bad, and if he discovers what Elizabeth did, her life will be at stake. Dante may not realize what a dangerous position he put Nurse Baldwin in.
Trauma Bond
GH has been hinting at a romance between Dante and Elizabeth for a while. She is in a relationship with Ric (Rick Hearst), but after his talk with Laura (Genie Francis), that may end soon. Her once-mother-in-law is afraid for Liz because of Ric’s involvement with Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Sonny (Maurice Benard). She may have talked him into breaking up with the woman he loves.
Liz might be in danger even if Ric ends their relationship to keep her safe. She and Dante may both be on Cullum’s radar, and he will not hesitate to go after them.
Once Dante realizes that his favor from Liz may threaten her life, he will move to protect her. This will bond them and, with Ric out of the picture, they could easily fall for each other.
Do you think Dante put Liz in danger? Do you think they will end up as a couple?
