Why Caitlin Clark and Tom Brady Were Trending on Wednesday
Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is without a doubt the biggest draw in women’s basketball at the moment. Tom Brady, on the other hand, might not be the hottest name in the football world now that he’s retired, but not too many folks out there will argue against the notion that he’s the GOAT.
It’s not very often, if at all, that these two superstars are in the same place at the same time. That was the case, however, on Wednesday as both Clark and Brady were present for The RSM Classic pro-am golf tournament at St. Simon Island, Georgia.
Unsurprisingly, the fact that two of the most popular athletes of their respective generations were in the same event turned a lot of heads on social media.
The above post from Golf Central amassed more than 5,000 views. The news about Clark and Brady was also shared on several other X accounts, which also reached thousands of users across the platform.
Multiple news outlets also reported about the appearance of the WNBA All-Star and the seven-time Super Bowl champion in the golf tournament, making it one of the most trending stories in sports on Wednesday.

Clark’s appearance at The RSM Classic came as a surprise. There was no prior announcement of the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year taking part in the tournament until a few hours before it started. She teamed up with 2023 United States Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan.
This was Clark’s second pro-am tournament in the span of eight days after joining The ANNIKA pro-am on Nov. 13.
Brady, on the other hand, took a break from his current gig of calling NFL games for Fox Sports. He partnered with world No. 5 Ludvig Aberg.
PGA Tour Boss Reveals What ‘Struck’ Him About Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark surprised her fans on Wednesday by attending the RSM Classic pro-am at St. Simons Island, Georgia. While there was an immense buildup leading to the Indiana Fever star’s pro-am debut at The ANNIKA on Nov. 13, Clark’s participation in her second major golfing event went largely unnoticed.
After teaming up with world no. 1 Nelly Korda and golf legend Annika Sorenstam last week, Clark had a chance to play alongside male golfers this time around. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year teamed up with 2023 Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson, who is a fellow Iowa native.
Clark was also paired with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, who had a chance to speak to the press during the event. He took the opportunity to share his honest opinion about the 22-year-old basketball phenom, as well as one particular aspect that stood out to him the most.
“It is incredible,” Monahan said, via Golf Week. “It was awesome to watch. What really struck me was her love of the game. Clearly, her competitive spirit and fire come through. And her ability comes through loud and clear on some of those tee shots.”
Monahan went on to praise Clark’s ability on the course. She’s not exactly on par with the professionals she’s played with, but the PGA boss is adamant that Clark has immense potential.
“You know, she’s been playing seriously for a year and a half,” he said. “I’ve never seen someone in a year and a half strike the ball like that. And she’s gonna be playing this game for a long time.

“She’s transcendent,” Monahan continued. “And it’s very clear. Her humility is her superpower and, yeah, it’s pretty cool to see her interact with all these young boys and girls and she’s done a lot for this game, in a short period of time.”
Clark previously joked about becoming a professional golfer. It’s not as if the Fever cornerstone star is going to be switching careers anytime soon, but it seems that all things considered, Clark might just have what it takes to do so.
