The WNBA says it cannot substantiate claims that racist fan behavior took place against Angel Reese during a game in Indianapolis between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever earlier this month.
The league said its investigation included gathering information from fans, team, and arena staff and reviewing the game’s audio and video.
“We appreciate the quick action by the league and the Indiana Fever to take this matter seriously and to investigate,” Chicago Sky CEO and president Adam Fox said in a statement.
“This process demonstrates the league’s strong stance on stopping hate at all WNBA games and events, and we will continue to support those efforts.”
The WNBA was looking into claims that racist comments were directed toward Reese following an altercation with Caitlin Clark, where they both had to be separated. During the game, Clark was called for a flagrant-1 foul on her longtime rival, Reese.
Despite the announcement and yet another disappointing loss, Reese is keeping her head held high.
Taking to X late last night, Angel Reese declared, “God has a plan. Day by day.”
Angel Reese And The Chicago Sky Have Started The Season Terribly
The Chicago Sky suffered another loss on Tuesday night. The season couldn’t have started any worse for them.
The Chicago Sky dropped to 0-4 during the 2025 WNBA season after falling to the Phoenix Mercury by a score of 94 to 89 on Tuesday. Chicago is still looking for the first win of new head coach Tyler Marsh’s tenure.
Angel Reese recorded a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double, but unlike last season, her numbers are not helping the team win games.
They have been blown out in three of their first four games. Only Connecticut has been worse as both teams sit at the bottom of the standings.
