Shock Reports: Iran Detains Senior IRGC Commander Over Mossad Espionage Claims
Treachery in Tehran: Quds Force Commander Esmail Ghaani Arrested as Alleged Mossad Spy Following “Miraculous” Escape from Fatal Strikes

The Islamic Republic of Iran is currently reeling from a security breach of unprecedented proportions—one that strikes at the very heart of its military and ideological core. In a development that reads like a high-stakes espionage thriller, Esmail Ghaani, the Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has reportedly been taken into custody by Iranian authorities. The charge? Suspected collaboration with the Israeli Secret Service, Mossad. This arrest marks a stunning fall for the man who was hand-picked to lead Iran’s foreign operations after the 2020 assassination of Qasem Soleimani.
The suspicion surrounding Ghaani is not based on mere hearsay but on a series of mathematical improbabilities that have left the IRGC’s top brass in a state of “extreme paranoia.” Since the launch of a massive joint U.S.-Israeli air strike campaign over the past weekend—an operation President Donald Trump described as a mission to “obliterate” Iran’s nuclear program and military capabilities—the Iranian leadership has been systematically decapitated. Yet, in nearly every instance of a high-profile strike, General Ghaani has emerged as the sole survivor.
The “Lone Survivor” Pattern
The list of Ghaani’s narrow escapes has become the central focus of the IRGC’s internal investigation. In September 2024, Ghaani reportedly left a secret Hezbollah council meeting in Beirut just minutes before the bunker was razed to the ground, killing Hassan Nasrallah and the group’s entire senior leadership. In June 2025, he urgently departed the IRGC headquarters immediately before a targeted IDF strike obliterated his office.
Most recently, on February 28th, Ghaani was present at the residence of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei, along with his family members and senior advisors, was killed in a devastating strike on the Tehran compound. Ghaani, once again, was the only high-ranking official to walk away.
To the IRGC, three such coincidences in a row are not viewed as divine protection but as a signal. Sources within the intelligence community suggest that Ghaani either possesses a “prophetic level of paranoid intuition” or, more likely, has been carrying a tracking device utilized by Israeli intelligence to mark high-value targets. The theory is that Mossad waits for Ghaani to exit the “kill radius” before authorizing the strike, preserving their most valuable asset while eliminating the rest of the regime’s leadership.

Mossad’s Cryptic Denial
In a move as unusual as the arrest itself, the Israeli Secret Service issued a public statement addressing the rumors. “Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Esmail Ghaani is not our spy,” the Mossad statement read. While intended to deny months of speculation about Ghaani’s defection, analysts suggest this could be a strategic move to further sow confusion and distrust within the Iranian ranks. By publicly “defending” Ghaani, Israel may be ensuring that the IRGC continues to view him with suspicion, effectively neutralizing one of Iran’s most capable military minds without firing a single shot.
A Region in Flames
The arrest of Ghaani comes at a time when the Middle East is engulfed in an escalating regional war. The joint U.S.-Israeli strikes have not only targeted individuals but also strategic infrastructure. On Tuesday, Israeli jets targeted the building in Qom where the 88-member Council of Experts is based—the body responsible for selecting the next Supreme Leader. The goal was clear: to disrupt the succession process following Khamenei’s death.
In retaliation, Iran has launched a barrage of drones and missiles across the Gulf. US embassies in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) and Kuwait have been hit, and Amazon data centers in the UAE and Bahrain have sustained damage from Iranian drone strikes. The human toll is rising rapidly, with the Iranian Red Crescent Society reporting at least 787 deaths resulting from the initial waves of the U.S.-Israeli campaign.

The End of the IRGC?
The Quds Force is the primary arm for Iran’s foreign operations, responsible for managing proxy groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis. With its leader in a secret prison and its founder, Soleimani, long dead, the organization is facing an existential crisis. If Ghaani is indeed a spy, it means that every secret operation, every weapons shipment, and every proxy strategy for the last four years has been transparent to the Israelis.
As President Trump suggests that this campaign could last over a month, the focus remains on the internal collapse of the Iranian regime. The arrest of Esmail Ghaani signifies that the greatest threat to the Islamic Republic may not be the missiles falling from the sky, but the suspicion and betrayal brewing within its own walls. The “miraculous” survivor has finally run out of luck, and in his wake, he has left a government paralyzed by the fear that its most trusted guardians are actually its executioners.
