Wild TikTok theory claims Kanye West saved Taylor Swift from Puff Diddy and Beyoncé with 2009 VMAs feud
A new TikTok theory has claimed Kanye West turned saviour for Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs. Several internet users have claimed Ye wanted to safeguard Taylor from P Diddy and Beyoncé’s influence. Read on to know more.
Never in their ‘Wildest Dreams’ Swifties could have ever imagined Kanye West was not belittling but saving Taylor Swift during his infamous 2009 VMAs interruption. Well, a wild conspiracy theory doing rounds on social media has suggested that Kanye’s interference on stage, where he declared that Beyoncé deserved the Best Female Video award, was actually an attempt to safeguard the then-21-year-old Taylor from Puff Diddy.
What’s the Taylor Swift-Kanye West feud?
In 2009, Kanye West ambushed Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs. His now-infamous proclamation went – “Yo, Taylor, I’m happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” Shortly after, a stunned Swift told reporters, “I was standing on stage and I was excited because I’d just won the award and then I was excited because Kanye West was on stage … And then I wasn’t excited anymore after that.”
Ever since then, the entire Swift fandom has detested the Power rapper, with both Taylor and West taking potshots at each other frequently.
Did Kanye West save Taylor Swift from Puff Diddy?
The viral TikTok theory claims West’s interruption was intended to protect Swift from being involved with Puff Diddy, who has recently been arrested on sex trafficking charges. Kanye was allegedly trying to create a rift between Beyoncé and Swift as the former reportedly shared close ties with Diddy at that time.
Netizens have alleged that West knew about Diddy’s ill intentions and his habit of preying on up-and-coming artists. Many even went on to claim that Bey was complicit in his hunt for ‘young talent’.
Netizens dissect the wild theory
One TikTok user, explaining the theory, wrote, “This diddy thing is making ppl go insane. The conspiracy theories got me dead they saying Beyoncé was gonna kill Taylor Swift so Kanye saved her when he interrupted Taylor on stage but hey, I’ve never seen so many positive Kanye comments in a while so a win is a win.”
Another user asserted, “Now I see it, he’s not angry at Taylor. He’s stressed. You people, listen now. Search up how many artists were saying that stuff for Beyoncé. And because Kanye knew what was going on, he said it to protect her just in case. And that wax figure? It was all for publicity to make up a beef so the true dark reason won’t see the light.”
“Kanye warned us many times about Illuminati,” a third user wrote.
“I’m a Swiftie and I always knew something was off with Beyoncé and if this is real I thank Kanye,” mentioned a fourth user.
However, some netizens also ridiculed the theory and reprimanded fans for supporting Kanye. Sharing similar sentiments, a netizen wrote, “Ye fans trying to validate the 828282828th times Kanye times to ruin Taylor’s career,” while another mentioned, “What kind of delulu everyone is on? This guy has humiliated Ms Swift multiple times!”
Meanwhile, Kanye and Taylor continue to be at loggerheads, with The Tortured Poets Department crooner recently taking a dig at the Donda rapper with her song thank You, aimEe. On the other hand, Taylor and Beyoncé, two of the strongest forces in the current music sphere, have shared empowering messages for one another on numerous occasions.
