Accused of Calling Giants ‘Weak as F**k’, Darius Slayton Confirms Stance on Daniel Jones Controversy

The New York Giants are at the bottom of their NFC East division with just 2 wins and eight losses. As obvious, the locker isn’t happy with the situation. But their quarterback, Daniel Jones’s benching has surely created a disturbance in the group.
Reports say many players on the team are frustrated with the decision to bench QB Daniel Jones. But here’s the catch! Fox Sports’s Jordan Schultz reports, “There is a sense of disappointment about the decision and players are upset that it was primarily a financial decision.” Yes! Not for the play, but for the money.
Jones has now been benched, and earlier it was reported that one offensive player voiced his frustration on it. But the name wasn’t revealed. However, many accused WR Darius Slayton of being the one. And now, with his recent remarks, Slayton has likely confirmed his stance on the matter. How? Well, he wrote on X recently, “If I had sumn to say I woulda said it a broad day. im not scary like you people who hide anonymously on the internet.” He shared the news while being accused of being that “one offensive player” who voiced his frustration.
Actually, this story began with Daniel Jones’s benching, and Schultz not naming the offensive player who was against this decision. That time, the insider-only said that a player stated, “We’re not idiots. They did it because of money. So be it. But Daniel has been all class, never complained, and is now being completely disregarded. The TEAM record is bad. You can point fingers everywhere. To try to blame him is trash, and making him third string is weak as f**k.” And now, it’s clear that the player was no one else but Slayton.
In addition to that, offensive tackle Dexter Lawrence too supported Daniel Jones by saying, “He’s the QB1. To me, he’s the best quarterback on the team.” So, among many players, as of now Lawrence and Slayton have shown their extended support to the quarterback, who is in hot water now. However, this isn’t the first time Slayton has shielded Daniel Jones from the slings and arrows of critics.
Darius Slayton continues to stand for Daniel Jones!
Darius Slayton is tired of the constant criticism of Daniel Jones, no matter what he does. It’s like Jones is stuck in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” cycle. The frustration boiled over after the Giants’ joint practice with the Jets in August this year. Critics pounced on Jones and the offense for playing it safe with short passes instead of going for deep throws. But Slayton wasn’t having it.

He fired back, explaining that the Jets’s defense was designed to stop deep plays. The Giants took what was available – short passes and running the ball. Hence, Slayton made it clear that in a real game, this strategy would have worked. But, via Slayton, “If they were to play how they did, we would have run the ball for a bazillion yards and we would’ve won the game. And if they came up, they would’ve gotten beat [deep].”
Well, he’s got a point. Football is about playing smart, not forcing flashy plays. Sometimes the right move is taking what the defense gives you. Slayton’s defense of Jones shows the trust and belief he has in his quarterback and he’s not afraid to call out the doubters. As, this time too, he wasn’t afraid to call out Daniel Jones’s backlashers.
