Angel Reese Faces Backlash For Her Racy Outfit Decision

Angel Reese, one of the WNBA’s top rookies, is taking heat on social media for her controversial decision on her New Year’s Eve outfit earlier this month.

The Chicago Sky rookie forward, who averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds a game in 2024, went viral for a jaw-dropping outfit, worn on New Year’s Eve.

The outfit quickly went viral on social media, sparking a ton of reaction, with some people accusing Reese of being hypocritical. The former LSU Tigers and Maryland Terrapins star had previously spoken out about disliking how she’s been “sexualized” by fans and the media.

Reese said earlier this year that she didn’t like being “sexualized” as a women’s basketball player.

“I don’t really get to stand up for myself. I mean, I have great teammates. I have a great support system. I’ve got my hometown. I’ve got my family that stands up for me. I don’t really get to speak out on things because I just ignore. I just try to stand strong,” Reese said.

“I’ve been through so much. I’ve seen so much. I’ve been attacked so many times, death threats, I’ve been sexualized, I’ve been threatened, I’ve been so many things, and I’ve stood strong every single time.”

Now, Reese is taking heat for wearing a racy outfit for New Year’s Eve. She has since deleted her Instagram account.

“Angel Reese, who has complained about being sexualized, posted video and pics wearing almost nothing on Instagram. How can you claim you are oversexualized by the media AND post this?” one fan wrote.

“Same angel Reese who was crying couple months back that people are sexualizing her same angel Reese exposing her body for clout yall see the irony,” one fan added.

“Nothing says” I am a professional WNBA basketball star, so don’t sexualize me” better than appearing practically nude on your Instagram page. Angel Reese,” one fan added.

“All these people defending angel Reese is annoying. She complains about being sexualized but dresses like a prostitute. Maybe if she tried having class people would like her,” one fan added.
