Angel Reese Launches Partner Related Investigation as Chicago Star Leaves No Room for Confusion About Her Relationship Status
As preseason is right around the corner, the first opportunity to judge your championship chances are not far. For Angel Reese, this preseason will hold just a little bit more value as they will be heading to her alma matter, LSU, as part of an exhibition game against the Brazilian National Team. The game will be played on the 2nd of May at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. While Angel’s magic continues to garner attention on court, she regularly gets her share off of it as well.
Such was the case today as Reese sparked interest among the fans when she enquired about appropriate tags for a male WAG (wives and girlfriends). Wait, don’t get excited. WAGs refer to the ‘wives and girlfriends’ of athletes as cheering your man on has been a regular fixture of sports. The term was popularized during the 2006 FIFA World Cup when Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham regularly serenaded the stands. But as the WNBA continues its ascent, it raises an important question as pointed out by our beloved Angel. “so what’s gonna be the name for the male wags??? 😅😭asking for a friend” she tweeted pointing towards the absence of a WNBA appropriate tag. While Angel might be the one to stir the pot, it is certain she’s not the only one cooking. Orlando Magic guard, Jalen Suggs was present at the WNBA Draft this year as his girlfriend and ex-TCU star Haley Van Lith was selected by the Chicago Sky. Meanwhile, Connor McCaffery, boyfriend of Caitlin Clark, is one of her consistent fans, showing up to her games quite often. So as these boyfriends continue to bolster the confidences of their partner, it’s only fair they have a special title too.

In an episode of “Unapologetically Angel” last year, Reese gave us an insight into what her type is like. Rapper Latto, a guest on the podcast alongside Mariah the Scientist, asked Reese the question and it appears Angel wants a partner she can hoop with. “He got to be tall,” Reese said, before revealing that the ideal height would be “6’7”” or “6’8”. She continued, saying her ideal man would be an “NBA player.” When Angel described her type, it set off alarms with many in Minnesota appearing to connect the links.
TJ Shannon, shooting guard for the Timerwolves was reported to be dating Angel Reese last year when Angel missed the WNBA All-Star party to be present at Shannon’s Summer League game. So if Angel’s presence at his draft party had started the fire, her attendance at the Summer league was the fuel as she opted to fly to the All-Star game from Vegas. Shannon also shares a connection to the Windy city as he is a Chicago native. While it looked like Angel had found her match, the speculations were never confirmed.
Although the rumors about Shannon were nothing more than just that, these rumors only started after Angel announced her break up with Cam’Ron Fletcher in March, 2024. “Yeah, I’m single,” Reese said on an Instagram Live. “I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’mma say. That’s it.” The two first revealed their relationship in June of 2023, when Angel appeared on the 1 Star Recruits podcast. “Cam’Ron is my boyfriend, yes,” she said at the time. “We both play the same sport so we understand each other’s schedule. I think that also helps.” Cam’Ron was also basketball player at Florida State and had known Angel from before her LSU days. The two had travelled together and also celebrated Christmas as a couple, signifying the depth of their relationship.
While the need for such a tag for the boyfriends and husbands of the WNBA becomes apparent, one person Reese reportedly shared sparks with was somebody who doesn’t need a tag or introduction.
