Angel Reese Suffers Caitlin Clark-Like WNBA Treatment Before Triple-Double Milestone

Sparks flew across the hardwood as Chicago Sky locked horns with Connecticut Sun on June 15, 2025. Despite the absence of influential veterans, Courtney Vandersloot and Moriah Jefferson, Chicago Sky asserted their dominance early on. However, the 78-66 victory did not come easy for Chicago Sky. Wherever Angel Reese goes, drama follows. At least that’s what went down against the Connecticut Sun today.
Angel Reese went for a rebound attempt when Bria Hartley tried to deflect the ball. While the player’s tactic was successful, Reese turned back and accused Hartley of pulling her hair. This confrontation blew out of proportion when Olivia Nelson-Ododa intervened between the players. While, her intentions were pure, the Sun athlete unfortunately landed on the bad side of the Chi-town Barbie.
A visibly angry and disappointed Reese pushed Nelson-Ododa out of the frame. This further escalated the situation as veteran Sun player, Tina Charles, began defending her teammates. She called out Reese’s behavior as the two tried closing in upon each other. However, WNBA officials and teammates had to step on the court and separate the athletes.
The CBS Sports official account took to social media and shared a clip of the scuffle between Angel Reese and Bria Hartley. The account posted a clip on Instagram with a caption that read, “Reese and Charles were both issued technical fouls after Reese’s hair was pulled.”
Whether the hair were indeed pulled or not is a different matter altogether. But what came next felt inevitable for the Sun and the Chicago Sky athlete. Tina Charles and Angel Reese were slapped with technical fouls for the misconduct. Having said that, Bria Hartley received a common foul later.
This technical of Angel Reese comes a day after her so-called rival, Caitlin Clark received her first technical foul of the season. IndyStar sports reporter, Chloe Peterson had broken the news of Clark’s foul on X. She wrote, “Caitlin Clark has been called for a technical after arguing with the referees about an out of bounds call. Fever are challenging the call.” While Fever had a drama-free win against New York Liberty, there were tensions between Sky and Sun throughout.
However, Reese did not let the incident influence her game. She continued to contribute significantly and recorded a remarkable number for her team this season. She recorded her first triple-double ever, with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists and propelled the Chicago Sky towards their third victory of the season.
A historic win for Chicago Sky
The fifth standing team on the Eastern Conference standings had a remarkable 78-66 win against the Connecticut Sun. The victory comes after a 3 game losing streak. The team now stands at 3-7. Despite a heavy pile of losses in their belt, the team has ample potential to get through the playoffs, provided they continue the run with the same zeal.
Rookie Hailey Van Lith stole the show as she immediately jumped off the bench and secured a career-high of 16 points in her belt. Having said that, she even grabbed a whopping 5 rebounds for the team. Moreover, Rachel Banham had a historic night too! She secured 300 three-pointers of her career against the Sun.
Banham added a total of 5 points to the scoreboard. However, Angel Reese became the standout player for the franchise. She scored a triple-double for the team. She was energetic and gritty as she clinched the first triple-double shot of her career. The 23-year old became the second youngest athlete to record the historic feat after Sabrina Ionescu. She’s performing at an All-Star level, for sure.
However, Caitlin Clark became the first rookie in the league to achieve the milestone. At 22 years old, Clark finished with 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds against New York Liberty and made her first triple double.
As Chicago Sky navigates through the regular season with such remarkable achievements, can we expect a similar run throughout the season? Or was this just one of those passing, once-in-a-time victory? With a determined head coach in Tyler Marsh and star forward Angel Reese finally in her rhythm, the team looks promising after the victory against the Sun.
