Could this 10-year-old quarterback be the next Patrick Mahomes?

Patrick Mahomes quickly became known nationally as “Showtime” once setting the NFL on fire, but he revealed during the 2018 preseason that he had grown up with the nickname in Tyler, Texas.

The same is true for Santi “Showtime” Cruz as he grows up in Midland, Texas. The 10-year-old quarterback prodigy already looks the part with an uncanny playmaking ability combined with his Oakley shades and unruly curls.

Team Whistle featured what a typical day chasing the dream looks like for Santi in their latest installment of “No Days Off.”

The nine-minute episode begins with Santi going from his speed and agility training to recovery session before delving further into his backstory. He first played flag football at four years old and immediately awed. He’s one year deep into tackle football.

“My proudest moment is this year, in my first year of playing tackle football, making it to state and winning MVP,” Santi says, then explains how he got his nickname: “I got the name ‘Showtime’ because my dad gave it to me. It was his name, and then he gave it to me. Showtime just means to show up and play.”

Footage then rolls from Santi meeting Mahomes, who complimented his hair and dished some advice to the youngster.
