Caitlin Clark Forced to Send a Bittersweet Message to Eagles’ Super Bowl Hero Courtesy of Their Iowa Ties
“I hope Cooper has a great game, but it’s my Chiefs all day long,” said Caitlin Clark, whose loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs is no secret. However, watching her team get steamrolled by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, where her friend Cooper DeJean was making history, was undoubtedly a bittersweet moment for her.
Cooper DeJean didn’t intercept a single pass all season, until the Super Bowl, when he picked off one of the NFL’s all-time greats, Patrick Mahomes, shattering Caitlin Clark’s heart in the process. While Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took home the Super Bowl MVP, it was Cooper DeJean who truly stole the spotlight, captivating fans everywhere and dominating the online fan vote!
Cooper DeJean, who was playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team became friends with Caitlin Clark during their time spent on the Iowa campus. And even though Clark was likely feeling the sting of her beloved Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss, she was still there to support her good friend. Cooper revealed a heartfelt message Caitlin sent him after his big win.
In an interview with Kay Adams where he was asked if he got a message from Clark, Cooper said, ” Yeah she did, she sent me a nice message, congratulate me so that was nice of her for being a Chiefs fan and all.” He couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift than winning the Super Bowl.
DeJan is confident of beating Clark 1v1
DeJan who once considered playing basketball over football is known throughout the country for his athletic ability. Turns out that before the 2024 NFL draft, he was asked if he could go 1v1 against the WNBA Rookie of the Year, to which he said, “A lot of teams have asked me if I could beat Caitlin Clark 1-on-1,” “I said I think I can. She’d probably score a few buckets on me but I think I could pull it off.”
His playful comment set off a fun debate, and of course, Clark wasn’t backing down. She shot DeJean a text saying, “I don’t think you can win.” which Cooper revealed later and laughed about it. While DeJan is confident about coming away with a victory against Clark he is also confident that if he teams up with Clark in a 2v2 no one is beating them!
Ahead of the Super Bowl, when asked about teaming up with Caitlin Clark for a 2v2, DeJean confidently said, “We’re beating anybody. Anybody you throw in front of us,” “That’s the first time I’ve heard of me and her on the same team, so I love that.”
As Caitlin Clark and Cooper DeJean continue to rise in their careers, it’s evident that their friendship goes beyond team loyalties. No matter where their paths take them, they’ll always have each other’s backs, supporting one another as true fans for life.
