Cheryl Reeve dodges Caitlin Clark Olympics question: Anybody want to venture into anything else?
Reeve is coach of the USA Women’s National Team and the Minnesota Lynx
Coach Cheryl Reeve and Caitlin ClarkLAPRESSE
Reeve, who is coach of the USA Women’s National Team and the Lynx, looked visibly annoyed when a reporter asked her about Clark being left off the team for the upcoming Games.
Caitlin Clark reaction to to her opponents’ flops
“Why the hell would I answer a national team question?” Reeve responded as per ESPN.
“I’m wearing Lynx. And I’m the head coach of the national team but I’m not the chair of the committee. Anybody want to venture into anything else?”
Clark has become a force in the WNBA since being selected first overall by the fever in this year’s draft.
However, there was plenty of reaction last month following news that she wasn’t one of the 12 woman on the USA Women’s National Team for the Olympics.
Some questioned the decision to leave Clark off the team given her popularity and what she would do for viewership numbers, while others argued she wasn’t ready yet.
Reeve blunt when asked about Fever support
Although Sunday’s game between the Fever and Lynx was played in Minnesota, there were fans openly cheering for Clark.
Prior to the game, Reeve was asked about the increased attendance and the support Indiana was receiving despite playing on the road, she answered bluntly.
“I don’t give two s**ts,” she joked.
When a reporter asked “How about one?” Reeve responded with: “[I don’t’ give] not even one s**t.”
As for Clark, she praised the Fever fans in attendance that helped the team improve to an 11-14 record.
“There were a lot of Fever fans,” said Clark. “They were cheering, going crazy. A lot of people that probably supported me when I was here playing with Iowa, but it’s a great venue, the Target Center is awesome.
“I remember when I was here in college, and people were lined up like overnight to try to get in the door, and they just love women’s basketball. The city supports women’s basketball, obviously the history here and what the Lynx have been able to do. But yeah, I mean, I guess there’s a little magic in here. Who knows? Knock on wood, because we do come back.”
