Caitlin Clark tells ex-team-mate to focus on her basketball in seven-word message

Former Iowa Hawkeyes talisman Caitlin Clark has urged one of her old team-mates to concentrate on her basketball rather than posting vacation selfies on Instagram

Even the WNBA off-season hasn’t given Caitlin Clark reason to pause after urging an old team-mate to shut up and dribble.

Or words to that effect at least as the Indiana Fever superstar told former college comrade Jada Gyamfi to stop slacking while on holiday. Gyamfi – who is in her junior year with the Iowa Hawkeyes – has been sharing snaps from her recent trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico, which led to some mixed responses from her nearest and dearest.

The forward’s first vacation update featured pictures of her enjoying the bikini life, leading Clark to comment: “Work it Jades.” But this year’s No1 WNBA Draft pick was all business when Gyamfi added a second batch of holiday photos just a few hours later.

“Less grams. More basketball thanks. Love ya,” read her seven-word response in the replies. That’s the mantra of a woman working on her craft ahead of her sophomore season as a pro.

Gyamfi fired back by replying: “Is there a dislike button??” The pair’s jokey interaction shows there’s still a strong between the two, even after Clark made the switch to the Fever.

Even Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, got in on the ribbing as he commented: “Love the double post you are killing it.” However, the vast majority of Gyamfi’s friends and admirers were vocal in voicing their appreciation.

Clark, 22, called Gyamfi her team-mate for two seasons in Iowa, where they reached back-to-back NCAA Championship games but lost on both occasions. And Gyamfi is aiming to make it three in a row come 2025, with the Hawkeyes boasting a perfect 6-0 record so far this season.

Coach Jan Jensen faces a mighty task in attempting to deliver the team its maiden NCAA title in the year following Clark’s departure. Gyamfi has yet to play a prominent role for the side so far this year but may yet prove an important member of the squad as the campaign progresses.
