Caitlin Clark’s Wishlist May Include Angel Reese as Chicago’s Latest Addition Drops Two Cents on Joining LSU Alum

With the 2025 regular season only a few days away, it’s clear—Caitlin Clark is here to make history. And honestly, she’s only getting started. As a rookie, she became the first player in WNBA history to record a triple-double and make 100 3-pointers. She was the fastest to surpass 400 points and 200 assists in just 26 games. She even led the team with 19.2 points per game. But as great as Clark is individually, even the best shooters dream of a perfect frontcourt duo to complement their game. Could that dream include her arch-rival, Angel Reese?

Kia Nurse certainly thinks so.

“Angel and Kamilla in the post is a shooter’s dream,” Nurse shared in an interview. That’s high praise, especially coming from a seven-year WNBA veteran like Nurse, who recently signed with the Chicago Sky for the 2025 season.

And she’s not wrong. Both Reese and Cardoso have demonstrated remarkable synergy on the court. Consider their June 12th performance against the Connecticut Sun. The Chicago Sky standouts became the first rookie pair since 2014 to each record over 10 points and 9 rebounds in the same game.

On June 23, 2024, against the Fever, they once again rewrote the history books. This time, they became the first rookie teammates since 1998 to notch double-doubles in multiple games. They achieved this feat by each recording at least 15 points and 10 rebounds while shooting over 65% from the field.

They accomplished this feat for the third time against the Atlanta Dream, setting the WNBA record for the most joint double-doubles by a rookie duo in a single season. Reese finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Cardoso added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

But more importantly, it is Cardoso’s ability to create space with her size and Reese’s rebounding prowess that works to the benefit. The Chi-Town Barbie led the league in rebounding average with 13 per game and briefly held the single-season record with 446. She’s also improving on her defense and shooting; bracing up for year 2.

Kia Nurse herself has been a consistent performer since entering the league in 2018. The Canadian sharpshooter played last season with the Los Angeles Sparks, averaging 7.6 points per game while appearing in 40 games and making 27 starts. Before LA, she played with the Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, and even the New York Liberty, where she made 89 appearances in her first three seasons. She looks ready to team up with the two 2024 draftees now, but CC and Reese is certainly a picture left behind.

Before speculating on trades and free agency moves, there’s one place where both of them will officially be teammates—the WNBA All-Star Game. Well, it happened last year. While Clark set a new All-Star rookie record by dishing out 10 assists, she also delivered a memorable no-look pass to Reese that electrified the crowd.

Reese, too, made history by becoming the first rookie to record a double-double in an All-Star Game, contributing 12 points and 11 rebounds. Their synergy was evident throughout the game.

“It’s so cool. I know when she gets the ball, I’m running, looking for the ball because I know she’s gonna throw it. She’s been great to play with. In the future, we’re going to be playing with each other a lot. Hopefully, in four years, we can be Olympians together,” Reese shared. The duo would help the All-Star team take down the roster that was going to represent US at the Paris Olympics in the following days.

But this upcoming year is going to be even more explosive. That’s because Lisa Leslie has already taken an interest in helping Reese elevate her game.

“The biggest advice I have for you is gonna be how you shoot your layups, period. We’re gonna fix that. That’s fixable for you.” And that could be a game-changer for Reese, who is averaging 13.6 points per game while struggling with her 39.1% efficiency from the field and 18% from beyond the arc.
