The Kansas City Chiefs lost in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles in heartbreaking fashion this past season, and Patrick Mahomes decided to make a change as a result.
Fans are used to seeing the superstar quarterback with longer, curly hair. But recently the Chiefs franchise player decided to make a change and trim it just a bit.
“I’ve wanted to do it for a while, but it was kind of one of those superstitions. I kept winning the Super Bowl, which is a good thing, but I didn’t want to cut the hair while I was doing it,” Mahomes said via FOX News.
It has been known. that Mahomes is a bit of a superstitious guy, having said that he does not wash his lucky red underwear whenever his team gets a win. While still for the same reason, at least this superstition is a bit cleaner.
The Chiefs lost to the Eagles 40-22, and are looking to redeem that performance by making it right back to the big game at the end of the 202 season. To do that, they will beed Mahomes, superstitions and all, to play his best.
If all goes well and the team gets off to a start like they did in 2024 where they won their first nine games, then hopefully Mahomes will not have to cut his hair for a long time.

Though the Kansas City Chiefs were trounced by Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl 202 , the football star said he was set on cutting his hallmark curls after the big game.
“I had told everybody during the season that win or lose, if we win three in a row, or we lose, I’m getting the hair cut,” he explained in the press conference.
While looking back at clips from last year, Mahomes said he “can’t believe” his teammates let him “keep that nappy hair for so long.”
And don’t expect him to grow it back out any time soon. “I’ll be keeping this going forward,” the Pro Bowler confirmed.

“The whole time that I’ve been cutting his hair, he just lets me do what I do,” Bonds told Us Weekly in February.
“But when he asked for a change, he basically was like, ‘Just cut me all off.’ I was like, ‘No, no, no. We’re not just going to cut it all off.’ We’re actually going to collab on this and go a little bit at a time, take it a little bit down.”
Fortunately, it looks like Mahomes found his sweet spot.
