Reporter Reveals What Simone Biles Did to Make Young Fan ‘Burst Into Tears’
Simone Biles is leaving her mark on the Paris Olympics — and making an especially big impact on one of the young fans cheering her on.
The 27-year-old has the chance to make history as she aims for another gold medal and tries to become the first gymnast with named elements in each of the four events. As she is preparing for the team all-around and individual finals, Biles has taken some time to show love to her supporters.
BBC reporter Betty Glover recounted a small exchange between Biles and a young admirer during the Paris Olympics that left the fan in tears.
“A little French girl in the crowd behind me has been shouting Simone Biles name this whole time,” Glover shared in a post on X. “Biles just finished her warm up on the bars & turned around & waved at her. The girl just burst into tears!! I’m not sure I’ve seen a female athlete have this much of an impact before”
Glover added that Biles also had an act of kindness for another member of the media covering the event.
“At the end she was with the team getting pics,” Glover wrote. “Loads of photographers obviously. She then spotted a photographer in a wheelchair at the back – so she got the team back together and posed for him separately. Such a little but important thing to do”
