Dying Kid Says Final Goodbye, Then Steph Curry Suddenly Appears & Does The Unthinkable

In a quiet hospital room, 12-year-old Jaden lay in bed, staring at the ceiling tiles, counting the little specks to keep himself occupied. The days felt long, and the nights stretched on forever. His mother, Lisa, and older brother, Marcus, stayed by his side more than usual, their worry palpable. Jaden wasn’t scared; he had overheard enough conversations to know his doctors had done everything they could.

One evening, Jaden turned to his mom, his voice raspy but calm. “I think I can tell when people are sad, even if they’re smiling,” he said, offering her a faint smile. Lisa’s heart tightened, but she nodded, squeezing his hand.

The next day, Jaden’s teacher, Mr. Ellis, visited with a bag full of cards and notes from his classmates. “They miss you, Jaden,” he said, pulling up a chair. Jaden perked up as he rummaged through the bag, laughing at a card from his friend Chris. “Tell him his drawings are still awful!” he joked.

Later, with Lisa holding the phone, Jaden recorded a short video message for his classmates. “I just wanted to say I miss you all,” he said, his smile brightening the room. The video quickly spread through their small town, touching hearts far and wide.

Then came the unexpected: Steph Curry saw Jaden’s video and wanted to meet him. When Lisa shared the news, Jaden’s jaw dropped. “No way!” he exclaimed, a smile breaking across his face.

The day of the visit was filled with nervous excitement. When Steph walked in, Jaden was speechless. “I had to come meet the coolest kid in the game,” Steph said, pulling up a chair. They talked about basketball, dreams, and the importance of staying strong. Before leaving, Steph gifted Jaden a signed basketball, telling him it was for when he was back on the court.

As weeks passed, Jaden’s condition worsened, but the love and support from his family and friends kept him going. When Jaden passed away, his family was devastated but comforted by the outpouring of love from the community.

In the months that followed, Lisa and Marcus began sharing Jaden’s story, visiting schools and working with organizations that supported children facing serious illnesses. They spoke not of tragedy, but of resilience, kindness, and the power of being genuine. Jaden’s legacy became a beacon of hope, reminding everyone that even in the darkest times, love and humanity could shine through.

Steph Curry is a superstar on and off the basketball court.

The 36-year-old athlete went above and beyond for a group of young fans who came to see his Golden State Warriors face off against the Pacers in Indiana on Friday, Jan. 10, only to learn that Curry would be on the bench.

Curry felt badly about sitting out the game as he manages an injury to his knee, so the three-point superstar invited a group of kids to come meet him before tipoff.

Two parents whose children were selected to meet Curry shared recaps on Instagram of the sweet encounter at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. “A night to remember,” a father named Brian Hastings began in his caption, sharing that his son Bennett is a “huge” fan of Curry’s and watches the Warriors “any chance he gets.”

“We had to take advantage of him playing only 2 hours away against the Pacers,” Hastings said.

But about 30 minutes after Hastings and his son arrived at the arena, “we found out that Steph wasn’t playing and I had to figure out the best way as a Dad to tell him without crushing him,” the father wrote.

About 10 minutes after learning Curry wouldn’t suit up in Indiana, Hastings said a Warriors “staffer” came up to them and “asks us if we want to go to the media room and meet the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history.”

Hastings said the Golden State staff member told them Curry “felt terrible for sitting and wanted to make it up to a few kids,” describing his son’s “level of excitement” as “something that you pray for as a parent.”

In a photo from Hastings’ post, Curry is seen standing in a locker room with a group of about 10 young fans all dressed in Curry jerseys. The father also snapped some shots while walking through the tunnels with his son and Warriors staff members.

“Classy move by one of the best players of all time and have a deeper level of respect for the man,” Hastings said in his caption. “Last night is a night I’ll never forget and so blessed to share it with this kid.”

A mother named Courtney posted a video and recap of her experience on Instagram too, sharing that the tickets to see Curry play were a Christmas gift.

She said she and her family “were devastated” when they found out Curry wasn’t going to play.

Courtney said Curry “talked to the kids and thanked them for all the support and for showing up,” during the meeting. “We are still in such a shock and like we are living in a dream,” the mother added, thanking the NBA star for giving her family “the memory of a lifetime.”
