Patrick Mahomes goes viral for his celebration as Chiefs star returns to Texas Tech following Super Bowl loss
A Texas Tech basketball fan made an incredible full-court putt and then celebrated with Patrick Mahomes on the quarterback’s return ‘home’ on Monday night.
The Chiefs star has kept a low profile since the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a humiliating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mahomes suffered a miserable afternoon in New Orleans, where he was sacked six times as the Chiefs’ hopes of a three-peat went up in flames.
But the quarterback – who is sporting an eye-catching new look – was given a hero’s welcome as he made a surprise returne to Texas Tech on Monday to watch the Red Raiders face the Houston Cougars.
‘Back home’ the school wrote alongside photos and clips of Mahomes sitting courtside with his wife Brittany, who recently gave birth to their third child.
During the game, a fan holed a putt from the other end of the court and then ran over to Mahomes. The quarterback leapt into the air to shoulder bump the student during the wild celebrations.

Mahomes spent his college years in Lubbock and he was back there on Monday night to see the No 10 Red Raiders face the No 4 ranked Cougars.
At the game, the Chiefs star gave fans another glimpse of his bold new haircut, having shed his mullet in the wake of the Super Bowl.
The Kansas City quarterback is well-known for his distinctive hairstyle but he opted for a change after his team lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
The new style was first seen in pictures exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com last week and, on Saturday, Mahomes showed off his new look at his daughter Sterling’s fourth birthday party.
The quarterback was also hit by tragedy following the Super Bowl, after his grandfather tragically died aged 78.
Mahomes was last week seen attending the funeral of Randy Mahomes, the father of his mother Randi, in Texas. He passed away after battling an unknown illness in recent months.
His death came just five days after Patrick, 29, and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl defeat to the Eagles on February 9.
The Chiefs quarterback made the trip to Henderson, Texas, on Monday for Randy’s funeral, where he was seen alongside younger brother Jackson, 24.
