Flau’jae Johnson Drops Strong 1-Word Reaction to Serena Williams’ WNBA Feat That Even Candace Parker Only Dreams Of

The WNBA is on fire, and it’s not just about the games anymore—it’s about who’s making moves off the court, too! As the league’s popularity soars, big-name investors are diving in, eager to be part of this growing empire. “I would love to own a WNBA team and an NBA team,” shared Candace Parker about her long-time dream. However, her mission took an unexpected twist with a move by the 23-time Grand Slam champion. But it’s not the heartbreak that’s under the spotlight, it’s the direction W is headed towards, and Flau’jae Johnson’s in awe.
“Legend.” That’s it. No extra words needed. Because really, what more is there to say? When Williams shared, “I want to be perfect. I know perfect doesn’t exist, but … I never wanted to stop until I got it right,” she meant every single word. Be it the Miami Dolphins, Angel City FC, Los Angeles Golf Club, or now the WNBA, she’s gradually becoming a powerhouse in the business world too.
Her recent joining of the ownership group for the Toronto Tempo—the W’s 15th team—prompted Johnson’s reaction. Why the decision? As Williams put it, “I have always said that women’s sports are an incredible investment opportunity.”
The champion is instead focused on elevating women’s sports to greater heights. Sounds familiar? Even W’s legend vying for team ownership has the same thoughts.
Candace Parker made every possible effort—from teaming up with Bill Haslam, the chairman of the Nashville Predators, to accumulating the necessary investment—to bring a franchise to Nashville. She isn’t alone with the efforts. Kevin Durant is steadfast on bringing a team to Texas, and so is Patrick Mahomes with Kansas. Meanwhile, Magic Johnson, Tom Brady, Dwyane Wade, and Renee Montgomery are already owners.
So the game is still on for Parker and the rest. For now, Serena joins owner Larry Tanenbaum, the chairman of Kilmer Sports Ventures.
“Serena Williams is an icon, a role model and a force for change in the world,” he’d share. Evidently, Flau’jae Johnson agrees. But not just for the notable figure Williams has been. But it’s a cheer to see W picking up the pace.
Johnson is doing her bit in pushing women’s sports, partnering with Unrivaled and treading loud through LSU. But her ambitions, of course, are at large for WNBA. “There’s going to be first-time, million-dollar contracts. There’s going to be first-time this and first-time that. There’s going to be so much more history broken,” she shared via Fox. The impact continues with her. Rather evident from her interaction with Serena Williams’ daughter.
“Tall Girls Unite!”— Flau’jae Johnson carries Williams’ legacy forward
While Johnson is a big fan of Williams, Olympia Ohanian, daughter of the tennis legend, is a huge fan of Johnson as well. The two even shared an unforgettable day meeting each other at Essence Fest. The LSU star would stop to sign a special jersey for the young mogul.
Impressed by Johnson’s move, Alexis Ohanian, Serena’s husband, shared the heartwarming moment on Instagram. “You absolutely made @olympiaohanian’s day @flaujae—thank you! Tall girls unite,” he wrote. How could Johnson hold back? She, too, posted pictures with the Ohanian family while expressing her admiration for them.

“Aspire To Inspire Before You Expire 4️⃣ @alexisohanian @serenawilliams @olympiaohanian This is why women’s sports is important. See ya soon for our first workout @olympiaohanian! 🤣 Thank you for getting this special girl this jersey,” she replied.
If you didn’t know, Johnson is following in Williams’ footsteps. She has also been actively involved in initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s professional basketball. Just last year, she secured an NIL deal with Unrivaled. By doing so, she even gained an equity stake in the organization. Future of women’s sports is indeed looking bright.
