Former Iowa Stars Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall React To Caitlin Clark’s Golf Post

Amid the WNBA offseason, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark tried out her luck on the golf course.

On Wednesday morning, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star participated in The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge pro-am tournament in Belleair, Florida. Similar to what she did for the WNBA, Clark brought in a substantial amount of ticket sales for the event, reportedly 12 times as much as in previous years.

Notably, Clark was paired with two LPGA greats during the 18-hole course, including world No. 1 Nelly Korda in the early portion of the pro-am and, in the latter half, Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, whom the event was named after.

Clark highlighted her latest golfing experience with an Instagram post on Thursday evening. The Fever used multiple photos of herself on the course, with the two aforementioned golf stars included in a couple.

“Fun day surrounded by two of the best to ever do it,” Clark captioned her post with a golf hole emoji.

Gabbie Marshall and Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin, both of whom played with Clark at Iowa, left their responses to the post almost immediately after it was published.

“Shoes are fireeeee,” Martin wrote in the comment section.

“My favorite golfer girl,” Marshall added with a white heart emoji. “The cutest golfer.”

Clark and her team finished the day with a 59 total net (total of all golfer’s strokes minus their handicap), which was good for a -11 net par. Despite a solid score, this ranked toward the bottom of the final leaderboard.

Clark, Martin and Marshall played with the Hawkeyes together from 2020 to 2024. The trio led their school to two straight NCAAW national championship appearances in their final two seasons but fell just short of the title in both.

Both Clark and Martin went on to be selected in the 2024 WNBA draft: Clark went No. 1 overall to the Fever, and Martin was the Aces’ second-round selection. Marshall, on the other hand, retired from basketball following 2023-24, electing to chase a graduate degree instead.
