In response to a December 25 tweet about parents “canceling” their children’s Christmas as punishment for “bad behavior [and] bad grades,” Reese shared her perspective:
“My mom did this one time,” Reese posted on X. “Christmas and for my birthday once cause i was being bad. I WAS SICKKKKK”
Angel Webb, who has experienced the demands of an athletic lifestyle, demonstrated this form of discipline to her daughter early on. After her collegiate career at the University of Maryland, Webb pursued a professional career in Luxembourg.
Discipline was clearly a cornerstone of Angel Webb’s parenting. Moreover, a competitive spirit was deeply ingrained within the Reese household. In past interviews, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has mentioned that she took up basketball to outdo her brother Julian, who also plays the sport.
Reese thus learned many valuable lessons from her athletic upbringing — lessons imparted on both holidays and regular days.
Whatever tough love tactics Angel Webb used during her daughter’s childhood, the two remain incredibly close to this day. Earlier this month, Reese took her mom to Abu Dhabi for a desert vacation.
During this trip, Reese and her mom got to watch Lewis Hamilton’s historic final race with Mercedes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Many A-list celebrities were in attendance for the event, and Reese got to spend time with some of them as well.
In an IG story posted by Reese, actor Taraji P. Henson said these words of support for the WNBA superstar:
“I am so proud of you. You just keep doing what you do. You are a force to be reckoned with in so many ways, and not just on the court, baby.”
As Reese looks forward to having a huge 2025, she’ll enjoy the support of her admirers — including her own mother.
