Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, alongside teammates Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston, and DeWanna Bonner, were celebrated as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day by the Indiana Pacers.
The Fever stars were present at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday night for the NBA match between the Pacers and the New York Knicks.
Despite the Pacers’ 128-115 loss, the quartet received a special recognition on the jumbotron at the end of the first quarter. Tyrese Haliburton, Clark’s friend, also showed his support by donning an Ann Meyers jersey, honouring the first woman to sign an NBA contract.

Clark, who spent her rookie season playing with Hull and Boston, saw Bonner join as one of the most significant off-season acquisitions.
Following Clark’s instrumental role in leading the Fever to their first WNBA Playoffs since 2016, Indiana bolstered their ranks by signing Bonner and three-time champion Natasha Howard. Sophie Cunningham is another new addition to the roster, as the Fever gear up for a robust 2025 season.
Bonner, a seasoned WNBA player, was acquired from the Connecticut Sun, the team that ousted the Fever in the playoffs’ first round. Interestingly, during the series, Bonner had a heated exchange with Clark after the rookie disputed a foul call with officials This led to Clark pushing Bonner, but the two have since smoothed things over following the incident.

During her official presentation as the latest addition to the Fever squad, DeWanna Bonner answered inquiries about a notable on-court clash, stating: “I’m glad you asked that question, because my inbox has been going crazy about that moment.
“I think it’s just two competitive players that want to win and push their team to get over the finish line. It was the playoffs, so emotions are high, tensions are high.”
Despite the age gap between herself and the celebrated former No. 1 pick, Bonner expressed profound admiration for Clark’s contributions to women’s basketball: “To see what she’s done for this league and organization is kind of insane.”

Since Bonner has joined Indiana Fever, her relationship with Clark has blossomed, evident in their positive collaboration during workouts. Bonner shared her enthusiasm about the synergy: “I think we just feed well off each other. I’m just here to hopefully give my leadership advice. I don’t think I need to push her to be any type of player that she isn’t already is, and I’m just happy to be here, and I hope I can give her some knowledge to bring her game to a different level.”
Clark herself has lauded the strategic decisions by the Fever officials, expressing increased confidence in the team’s prospects: “They know what it takes to win, they know what it takes to get to the Finals, they know what it takes to win championships,” she said in response to questions about the new acquisitions including Bonner and Howard.
“I think it’s exactly what we needed in our locker room. But also they’re not just really good basketball players, they’re great leaders and great people and I know the front office prioritized that.”
