As part of the 2024 NFL kickoff weekend, the league saw fit to give fans a taste of back-to-back action starting with Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

Friday night’s Packers-Eagles game was the first time an NFL game was hosted in the Southern Hemisphere. While the game was entertaining enough despite several complaints about the state of the turf, there was also a major cause for concern for the Packers with Jordan Love injured late in the game.

With six seconds to go, the Packers, trailing by 29-34, decided to throw Love back in the game in hopes of a late rescue. However, the plan went horribly wrong when Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter tackled Love.

Video footage of Carter’s tackle showed Love’s knee popping, leaving Packers fans extremely concerned about their $220 million franchise quarterback.

It appeared to be a football play, but that didn’t stop fans from attacking the tackler in question.

After the game, Jalen Carter took to Instagram to post a picture of his Instagram direct messages detailing a series of death threats. Carter posted the screenshot along with the caption:

“Making a football play, wishing Jordan the best recovery!”

NFL legends Jason Kelce, Brett Favre send prayers for Jordan Love

Eagles legend Jason Kelce and Packers icon Brett Favre tuned in for the NFL’s first game in Brazil, but after things went sideways for Jordan Love, the two sent their wishes for his recovery.

“Hopefully Jordan Love is okay, love watching him play,” Kelce wrote on social media platform X.

“Good seeing Jordan able to get up,” Favre tweeted, adding that Love was just trying to make a play.

Jordan Love injury update

All we know so far is that Love suffered a lower left leg injury late in the game. While it could be an ACL/MCL injury, footage indicates it could also be a high ankle sprain.

If it’s the latter, we could potentially see Love back in action sooner rather than later. If it’s an ACL, however, the Packers will have to dip into the shallow pool of free-agent quarterbacks. The likes of Ryan Tannehill, Mike White and Bailey Zappe are among the QBs still unsigned.
