Simone Biles’ birth mother, Shanon Biles, is seeking reconciliation and forgiveness for the mistakes she made in the past, which led her to abandon her children due to drug addiction. She hopes that Simone will reach out so they can heal and move forward.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Shanon explained that it was difficult to give up her four children. She feels left out due to missing significant moments in her daughter’s life, such as Simone’s wedding to NFL player Jonathan Owens. “It was incredibly difficult to give up my kids, but I had no choice. I wasn’t in a place to take care of them. I was still struggling with addiction, and my father didn’t want me disrupting their lives when I wasn’t stable,” she recalled. Shanon hopes to make amends with Simone but disclosed that she communicates more with Adria: “I just want to ask Simone to forgive me, to not judge me on my past, and to move forward together. I’m waiting for the opportunity to sit down and talk with her. I know I just have to be patient.”

Simone and her sister Adria were raised by their grandparents, Ronald and Nellie, while their siblings, Tevin and Ashley, were raised by their aunt. Recently, Shannon threw a backyard party to celebrate Simone’s wins on the floor, vault, and balance beam at the 2024 Olympics, where she took home three golds and one silver medal.

Since letting go of her children, Shannon says she is learning patience and working to improve her life. Despite her struggles, including a history of debts and legal issues, Shannon has worked to stay out of trouble since 2022 and is a cashier at Save A Lot. She remains optimistic that she and Simone can rebuild their relationship.

“I’m not the person I used to be. I’m okay, today. I’m a loving person. I’d give you the shirt off my back. I’m very different from what I’ve been portrayed.”
