Jokes Are Pouring in About Angel Reese’s New Shoe Deal

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has made her mark on the WNBA in just one season. After being drafted seventh overall this past April, she became a WNBA All-Star, was named to the All-Rookie team and led the league with a rebounding average per game of 13.1.

Along with Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark, she’s helped attract tremendous attention to women’s basketball. To put it into perspective, since these two young stars arrived, ESPN’s WNBA viewership has increased by 170% over the last year.

On Thursday, ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania revealed Reese has signed a multiyear endorsement contract extension with Reebok.

The extension includes a signature shoe set to launch in 2026, making her one of only six active WNBA players with a signature shoe deal.

On Oct. 16, Reese shared with viewers on Instagram Live that she’s paying $8,000 a month in rent, while her WNBA rookie salary was $73,439.

“I just hope y’all know,” Reese said, “the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think it pays one of my bills. Literally.”

When Charania broke the news on Thursday, fans quickly took to social media, cracking jokes about Reese now being able to afford her rent.

“Rent shouldn’t be a problem anymore aye?” one fan said.

“Rent paid 💰💰💰,” one added.

“Now she can afford her rent 😂,” another wrote.

“Rent paid 💰💰💰💰 #Reebok,” one fan said.

“Good on rent 💰,” added another.

“That should cover her rent now,” said another.

“Now she can afford it,” a fan wrote.

Adding to the humor, Reese joined in by posting her own message on X.

“God is so good!!! 🙏🏼 (looks like i can “afford” my bills now🤣😘),” she wrote.

Reese finished the 2024 WNBA season with 13.6 points and 1.9 assists per game, in addition to her 13.1 rebounds per game.

In college, Reese initially played for the Maryland Terrapins, where she earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors before transferring to LSU. Reese became more well-known at LSU as she led the Tigers to a national championship in 2023.

With the New York Liberty taking home the WNBA championship, fans will have to wait until next April to see Reese back on the court in her Chicago Sky uniform.
