Kendrick Lamar to headline the 2025 Super Bowl LIX halftime show
Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
Apple Music, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Lamar himself have confirmed that three years after he joined Dr. Dre’s star-studded halftime show, the rapper will make the stage his own on Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

A video shared across his socials features the “Euphoria” rapper urging fans to tune in to the event while he stands before a massive American flag on a football field.
“My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” he says in the clip. “Will you be pulling up? I hope so.”
He adds, “You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos. Let’s get it.”
Lamar’s upcoming performance marks the sixth year that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation will program the show. “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

The announcement continues Lamar’s momentum this year. He has topped the Billboard charts with his new anthems, “Not Like Us” and “Like That,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin. He also garnered buzz for coming out on top in his latest feud with Drake, which saw the two verbally sparring with competing diss tracks.
Lamar has enjoyed critical and commercial acclaim since the release of his 2011 mixtape, Section.80. For his 2017 album, DAMN, he won 17 Grammys and the Pulitzer Prize for music, making him the first non-classical or jazz artist to score the prestigious honor.
While this won’t be Lamar’s first time on the Super Bowl stage, it will be his first performance as the event’s headliner. In 2022, Lamar was one of several icons featured in Dr. Dre’s West Coast hip-hop showcase: Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem were also present to play their hits for an audience of 100 million.
Usher headlined last year’s halftime show, which not only earned three Emmy nominations, but became the most-watched halftime performance of all time.
Apple Music will present the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, which takes place at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9. It will also air on Fox.
