NFL Exec Calls Out Chiefs’ Demand From Patrick Mahomes and Questions Andy Reid’s $31.5M Decision

The Chiefs have made some big moves this offseason, but not all of them are sitting well with NFL insiders. Trading away Joe Thuney, using the franchise tag on Trey Smith, and letting Justin Reid walk were already questionable decisions. But another move from earlier in free agency is still raising eyebrows: the signing of offensive lineman Jaylon Moore.

One league executive isn’t sold on Moore’s fit in Kansas City. “He has had durability issues, he has never been a front-line player, and he’s been protected in a system that is not dropback-heavy, so I do not love that move,” the exec reportedly said.

The Chiefs admitted after their Super Bowl loss that they miscalculated Patrick Mahomes‘ protection. And this offseason, they’ve been trying to fix that. But instead of making a splash signing, they’re betting on a lineman with concerns about consistency and durability. Meanwhile, the Chiefs also let Justin Reid walk, with the safety landing a $31.5 million deal with the Saints. One exec called him an “underrated enforcer” and questioned whether Kansas City will regret moving on from him. At the end of the day, the Chiefs are asking Mahomes to do more with less. Will these moves pay off or backfire?

This is a developing story. Stay tuned…

Reid’s famous mustache is apparently no more, as the 67-year-old appeared to shaved it, as revealed in a photo shared by the Chiefs on Tuesday via social media.

Fans were stunned at the photo, but quickly realized the date – April 1, aka April Fools Day.

Thousands of fans commented on the post, wondering if they’d been duped by the Chiefs’ account.

“This can’t be real,” one fan posted.

“Is this an April Fools Day joke,” added another.

Both the Chiefs and Reid are yet to comment on whether the new look is real or not.

Furthermore, in the annual NFL head coaches picture, Reid’s mustache had not been shaven off, suggesting that the Chiefs are pulling an April Fools prank.

Reid’s mustache is iconic and a well known part of his image — the three-time Super Bowl champion went viral back in January 2024 when it froze with icicles forming on it due to the extreme weather.

The 65-year-old dropped the perfect one liner when asked about it by reporters at the time.

“I guess the worst thing that could happen is it falls off,” he joked.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach has gotten rid off his famous moustache

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach has gotten rid off his famous moustacheWith a kickoff temperature of minus-4 degrees, the contest was the fourth-coldest game in NFL history.

It was only in February that Reid’s mustache starred in a Super Bowl LIX commercial ad for Pringles.

In a bizarre sequence of events, Reid’s mustache flies off while speaking to the media.

All the while, the theme song of the 1960s “Batman” TV show is playing in the background, replacing “Batman” with “Mustache.”

The mustaches fly to find Pringles cans at various supermarkets, some ripping them out of the hands of shoppers.

With the commercial seemingly coming true, fans online refused to accept Reid’s new look.

“Where’s Andy’s mustache? This gotta be an April fools joke!,” one fan wrote on X.

“What? Why was Andy Reid done like that?” another fan added.

Looks like we’ll have wait to know if the mustache is really gone.
