NFL Host Kay Adams Issues Official Warning About Patrick Mahomes
In the wake of Patrick Mahomes’ brutal performance in Super Bowl 59, most NFL fans have thoroughly scrubbed the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback from the NFL “GOAT” conversation. But Kay Adams believes that the best is still to come.
On a recent episode of her Up & Adams show, Adams made issued a warning to the rest of the NFL. She feels that Mahomes’ loss in Super Bowl 59 will “only fuel him” to do more great things in the years to come. Adams pointed to Mahomes’ prior loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 and the departure of Tyreek Hill after that en route to winning it all in 2022.
“I think we’re underreacting to what this is going to do, to and for, Patrick Mahomes. Make no mistake… This will only fuel him,” Adams said. “After (Kansas City) lost to Cincy in the AFC title game and lost Tyreek, he had to hear about the window being closed. Want to know what happened then? He threw for 5,000 yards without him. He won MVP. Went right back to the Super Bowl. Won it. Then he won it again! Then he went back again!”

Adams asserted that fans of the Chiefs’ rivals may be celebrating now but could wind up regretting it. She believes they’re simply “poking the bear” and he’ll “unload on everybody” in 2025.
“If I’m a fan of one of those other AFC teams that [Mahomes has] tortured over the years, I don’t know that I’d be enjoying this one too much and poking the bear with ol’ Patty,” Adams said. “Patrick’s going to come back and unload on everybody next season.”
Adams is certainly right that Mahomes will be extra-motivated in 2025. But there are some legitimate questions about him after the season he just had.
While Mahomes did lead the Chiefs to a 15-2 record in the regular season, going 15-1 as a starter, the fact of the matter is that 2024 was one of his worst statistical seasons. A number of Kansas City’s wins were the result of one-score games that came down to the wire and out of his control.
Mahomes will have a lot of proving to do in 2025 if he wants to show that he’s as good as Adams says he is.
