Patrick Mahomes secretly hid a recording device in his daughter Sterling’s hair while she was at school, and it’s crazy what his ears heard…
Patrick Mahomes had always been the kind of father who would do anything for his daughter, Sterling. His love for her was unconditional, and no matter what, he would always make sure she felt safe and protected. But lately, something seemed off. Sterling, his seven-year-old princess, had been acting strangely—quiet, withdrawn, and distant. Her once bright eyes were now clouded with an invisible fear, a fear that Patrick couldn’t put his finger on.
It all started one morning when he bent down to tie Sterling’s shoelaces. He smiled at her gently, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Be good at school today, okay, Daddy’s princess?” he said, trying to comfort her. But Sterling stayed silent, her small hands tightly clutching the hem of her shirt. A chill ran down Patrick’s spine. There was something wrong, but Sterling wasn’t ready to share it with him.
“Sterling, what’s wrong?” Patrick asked, concern rising in his chest.
The little girl shivered slightly, pressing herself closer to him. “Daddy, can I stay home today?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Patrick frowned. Sterling had never asked to skip school before. “Are you feeling sick, or did something happen at school?” he asked, trying to understand what was going on.
Sterling shook her head but didn’t answer. She bit her lip and finally said, “It’s nothing, Daddy. I’ll go to school.” A single tear slipped from her eye, but she quickly wiped it away, as though trying to hide her emotions.
Patrick’s heart sank. He knew his daughter was hiding something, but she wasn’t ready to tell him. He sighed and opened the car door for her, watching as she reluctantly climbed into the back seat. As they drove to school, Sterling remained unusually quiet, staring out of the window with a distant expression. Patrick’s worry grew with every mile.
At the school gate, Patrick pulled the car over. He turned to Sterling, his voice gentle but filled with concern. “Are you sure you don’t want to tell me anything?”
Sterling looked at him for a moment, then bit her lip. “Daddy, if I’m not a good girl, will you still love me?” Her voice trembled, and the question took Patrick by surprise.
Patrick quickly turned to her, pulling her into his arms. “Sterling, you are always the most wonderful little girl in the world. Daddy loves you unconditionally, no matter what.”
Sterling buried her head in his chest, her small body trembling. “Daddy, I’m scared,” she whispered.
“What are you scared of?” Patrick asked, holding her tightly, but Sterling only shook her head and pulled away, running quickly through the school gate without another word. Patrick sat frozen in the driver’s seat, his heart heavy with worry.
Later that afternoon, Patrick arrived to pick Sterling up earlier than usual, his anxiety reaching its peak. When the school bell rang, he saw Sterling walk out of her classroom with a pale face. He waved to her, trying to smile, but she didn’t return his smile. Instead, she threw herself into his arms, trembling uncontrollably.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, holding her close, but Sterling didn’t answer. She simply buried her face in his chest.
Before he could ask her more, a voice interrupted him from behind. “Mr. Mahomes,” it called.
Patrick turned to find Mrs. Dawson, Sterling’s new teacher, standing nearby. She was in her fifties, with neatly tied-back hair and sharp, cold eyes. “Hello, I’m Sterling’s teacher,” she said, offering a tight smile.
“Nice to meet you,” Patrick said, trying to maintain his composure.
“Sterling seems like a very sensitive child,” Mrs. Dawson remarked. “She doesn’t seem to get along with others very well. I think you should teach her to toughen up.”
The words made Patrick uncomfortable. “What do you mean by that?” he asked, trying to keep his tone polite.
Mrs. Dawson shrugged dismissively. “It’s just that she doesn’t seem to fit in with the other kids. I think you should teach her to be tougher. It’ll help her later in life.”
Patrick felt his protective instincts rise. “I always teach my daughter to be kind. And if there’s a problem, I hope the school can offer support instead of criticism.”
Mrs. Dawson smirked. “Of course, Mr. Mahomes,” she said, her smile sending a shiver down his spine.
That night, as Patrick was washing the dishes, he suddenly heard Sterling softly crying in her room. He rushed to her side, finding her curled up on the bed, holding her teddy bear tightly as tears streamed down her face.
“Sterling, did you have a bad dream?” he asked, sitting down beside her.
She nodded. “I dreamed someone took me away, and Daddy couldn’t find me anymore.”
Patrick hugged her tightly. “I’ll never let anyone hurt you, Sterling.”
But Sterling’s next words made his heart drop. “If I told anyone, they would take you away, and then I’d never see you again.”
Her words were haunting, and they hit Patrick like a punch to the stomach. “Who told you that?” he asked urgently, but Sterling trembled and shook her head.
“No one,” she whispered.
Patrick could feel his daughter was hiding something, but she refused to open up. “Sterling, you can trust me. I will protect you,” he said, his voice gentle but firm.
Sterling looked at him, her eyes filled with fear, but she still shook her head. “Please, don’t do anything,” she pleaded, before curling up into herself again.
That night, unable to sleep, Patrick knew something was wrong—something far beyond what he had imagined. He decided that he would find out the truth.
The next morning, while Sterling was still asleep, Patrick quietly entered her room. He had a plan. He slipped a small recording device into one of her hair clips, a device that could capture audio over a long period of time. He knew it was risky, but he needed to know what was happening to his daughter.
As Sterling rubbed her eyes and Patrick helped her with her hair, she asked, “Daddy, why are you helping me with my hair clip today?”
Patrick smiled, trying to stay calm. “Because I think you’re the prettiest when you wear this clip.”
Sterling blinked and smiled a little, but her smile quickly disappeared as she left for school. Patrick couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible was unfolding behind the scenes.

Amid her pregnancy, Brittany is staying dedicated to her fitness routine. Bronze also participated in the family workout, as he supervised while Brittany finished up her reps to the Forrest Frank song “GOOD DAY.”
In December, Patrick said in an interview clip posted on X by Netflix that Brittany is due “any day now.” The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback also noted that the added stress of this NFL season has been hard on his pregnant wife.
“Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” he said. “So I got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games.”
“Hello 2025✨ we’re ready for you little one 🎀,” Brittany captioned the Jan. 8 post.
