Patrick Mahomes Silences Critic with Epic Comeback After Radio Host Body-Shames Him: “NFL Should Be Worried”

Patrick Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl champion, winning the SB MVP on all three occasions.

But even one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks to ever lace up their cleats on an NFL field is not immune from criticism.

The criticism, though, isn’t aimed at Mahomes’ on-field performances, but instead, about his physique, which he often has to defend.

With the 2025 season just around the corner and team training camps all over the league imminent, the 29-year-old’s ‘dad bod’ has once again been a strong talking point.

Earlier in July, Kansas City radio host Kevin Kietzman unleashed his own attack on the Chiefs superstar’s appearance.

“He’s fat, he’s an embarrassment,” he said via his podcast. “Stop the fast food, do a sit up, do something. I don’t understand it.

“You can’t just run through your NFL career eating Taco Bell all the time and Door Dashing fried chicken.

“You’ve got a $500 million contract, it’s your job. He’s done nothing but eat and drink this offseason.”

On Thursday, though, Mahomes appeared to indirectly – and subtly – clap back at his critics when he posted a video montage on Instagram that combined clips of the two-time NFL MVP putting in the work in the gym doing movements that seamlessly translated into how he goes about his business under center at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium.

A man of few words, the six-time Pro Bowler captioned his post with an alarm clock emoji.

What was most notable, though, was the choice of accompanying soundtrack, with him opting to use Drake’s ‘What did I miss?’, which could almost certainly be interpreted as him having heard all of the judgement and condemnation of his physique.

Fans were quick to jump to Mahomes’ support and hype up the bonafide superstar, though, with one user commenting under his post saying: “Imagine your worst season is an AFC championship appearance.”

“MAHOMES SUPERBOWL RUN LOADING 🔥,” another wrote.

“He’s on a mission. 💍💍💍💍,” a third fan commented using four ring emojis to signify that he is gearing up to chase his fourth championship in seven seasons.

With the video being reposted all over other social media platforms, one user on X (formerly Twitter) commented at length: “This is exactly what the ex radio guy in KC doesn’t understand about Mahomes’ offseason training.

“It’s not about building a model body, it’s about strengthening functional movement to excel in performance and to prevent injury or accelerate recovery.”

A fifth fan even called out the rest of the league for being in trouble in response to Mahomes’ video.

“Remember that one saying? “Don’t poke the bear?” Yeah, NFL is in trouble,” the fan wrote.

Mahomes has already made history by having the most wins (89) and touchdowns (245) through his first eight seasons in the NFL.

Now entering year 9, and coming off the back of a devastating defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co will be seeking to avenge that loss and aim to reach their sixth Super Bowl in their last seven seasons.

Despite his favorite target, Kelce, having a down year in 2024, with his starpower and arm talent alone, Mahomes can make virtually any of his teammates look good.

But he’s not exactly short of offensive weapons either, with the explosive Isaiah Pacheco alongside him in the backfield, and the strong receiving corps of Xavier Worthy, and veterans Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster in front of him.

He also has Rashee Rice at his disposal, but as a result of being sentenced to 0 days jail time after his involvement in a multi-car crash last year, there is the expectation that the NFL will be handing him a lengthy suspension, thus leaving Mahomes without one of his key targets.

Mahomes may constantly be attacked for not appearing in shape, but that never appears to prevent him from pulling all the offensive strings for the Chiefs and leading them to the top of the AFC standings year-upon-year.
