Patrick Mahomes’ Sister Cries Her Eyes Out in Chiefs’ Super Bowl Loss With Lionel Messi as QB Takes Blame for Embarrassing Defeat

The Philadelphia Eagles made history as they beat the defending champions, the Chiefs. Jalen Hurts‘s team did a wonderful job from the start itself. They consistently pushed Patrick Mahomes into pressure situations. And when the Super Bowl slipped out of the Chiefs’ hands, with the Iggles (40-22) just pummeling them, disappointment filled the Chiefdom, leaving some in tears and others searching for answers. Mahomes took the blame for the loss. However, there was one young Chiefs fan whose dream came true!
That fan was Patrick’s sister, Zoe Mahomes, who was in tears after her favorite team suffered a loss. But amid all the disappointment, she had one memorable moment. Soccer legend Lionel Messi was there to console her. Zoe posted a video of her with Messi, and captioned it as: “Dream come true! Thank you God! @leomessi.“A legend consoling you after such a massive loss, a great moment indeed.
Messi attended the game with his three sons, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro in the Caesars Superdome. Before the game, Patrick Mahomes, Messi’s friend had praised him, saying, “Messi is the GOAT of his profession, and having someone like him at the game would be incredible.” Messi was there at the high-stakes game after a friendly soccer match with his club, Inter Miami, against Olimpia in Honduras on Feb 8.
However, the Chiefs failed in their mission. Indeed, they were never close to the Eagles in the SB LIX. And postgame, Mahomes has taken the blame for the loss.
‘Hurt’ Patrick Mahomes took the blame
After the Super Bowl loss, Mahomes met the media with a heavy heart. Expressing his emotions, he said, “There’s no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst thing in the world… it will stick with you the rest of your career.”Filled with nostalgia, he remembered his first Super Bowl loss in 2021, Mahomes said, “I mean these will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better, for the rest of my career. Because you only get so few of these [Super Bowls], and you have to capitalize on them.” And lastly, took all the blame on himself.

Heartbroken Mahomes said, “We didn’t start how we wanted to. The turnovers hurt… I take all the blame for that. Those turnovers swung the moment of the game and they capitalized on them.” Giving further clarification, the Chiefs #15 added, “They scored on one and got a touchdown immediately after another. That’s 14 points I gave them.” The Chiefs’ QB definitely had a poor first half.
While addressing the press, Mahomes said, “It’s hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl. I have to learn from that and try to be better the next opportunity that I hopefully get. I didn’t play to my standard and I have to be better next time.” It’s over. This was the ninth time an NFL team has missed the three-peat. Now, as all the teams prepare for the offseason, Mahomes and Co. will certainly revisit their loss, analyzing what went wrong.
