Randi Mahomes Shares Emotional Throwback With Patrick Mahomes
As the 2025 NFL Draft kicked off in Green Bay, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ mom, Randi Mahomes, took a heartfelt moment to reflect on her own family’s draft day journey.
Randi Mahomes shared an emotional throwback photo on Instagram, reminding fans just how much the NFL Draft can mean, not only to the athletes but to their families.
“Draft day 2017 — the day everything changed,” she captioned the photo. “Can’t believe it’s been 8 years since this moment with Patrick,”
Her memory of that day, when Patrick Mahomes was selected No. 10 overall by the Chiefs, came full circle as another class of hopeful players waited to hear their names called.
“Watching his journey unfold has been the greatest gift. As another class of dreams comes true tonight, I’m sending love to ALL the mamas out there soaking in their own draft day memories!”
Randi Mahomes also took an active role in this year’s draft festivities in Green Bay. A day before the first round began, she hosted a special “QB Challenge” during Field Fest, a free community event where parents and children competed in football-themed activities like the 40-yard dash, obstacle courses, and long-throw contests.

“Back then, it wasn’t about trophies or rankings,” Randi Mahomes shared in a video posted to her Instagram. “It was just about having fun and competing, spending time together as a family. Those moments meant everything to me. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of this year’s draft and partner with the city of Green Bay for Field Fest.”
As Patrick Mahomes looks ahead to another season with the Chiefs, his mother is reminding the world that every great player starts with a strong foundation at home—and that every draft day is special, not just for the players, but for the families who’ve supported them every step of the way.
