Rebecca Lobo’s Viral Caitlin Clark Post Ignites A’ja Wilson Complaints

WNBA icon Rebecca Lobo has not been shy about letting her feelings about Caitlin Clark known. On Monday, Lobo heaped praise on Clark after the Indiana Fever set the all-time record for the most points by a rookie.

This was just the latest of Lobo’s commendations for the 22-year-old, who, for her part, has been having an incredible debut season. So much so that some fans have noticed a trend about Lobo — one that the supporters are now calling the Hall of Famer for.

“Last night Caitlin Clark broke Seimone Augustus’ rookie scoring record,” Lobo tweeted. “@MAVoepel asked her about it postgame. I love this answer, including the description of the quality of photos taken on phones back in the day.”

Incidentally, Lobo made no mention of Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, who herself marked an amazing milestone on Sunday. This was after the two-time WNBA MVP became the first player in league history to reach 1,000 points in a season.

The fact that Lobo supposedly ignored Wilson’s feat led some fans to turn on the WNBA legend.

“Rebecca showing her bias again. Not one word about A’ja breaking records or her heartfelt words. But Lobo showing her true self, again. And then disabling comments. You’re a hack Lobo who only got where you are because ESPN wanted a white girl back then too,” observed a user.

“You have no shame and less class. This is why so many think you the 4rth place vote. Go away and retire from broadcasting,” reacted another.

“Nothing about @_ajawilson22 ‘s 1000 points. The agenda is clear,” a comment read.

“Rebecca we see you , you can’t fool us lmao… This is your take after A’ja breaking record last night ….” said another.

“It gets clearer and clearer everyday who the 4th place voter was,” reacted a WNBA fan.

As a couple of the above tweets touched on, Wilson received a fourth-place vote in the 2023 WNBA MVP race. While the Las Vegas center still took home the trophy, more than a few fans were outraged by the fact that someone thought there were three other players in the league who were more deserving of the MVP title than Wilson last year.

After Lobo’s latest praise of Clark, some supporters believe that they have finally determined who that fourth-place voter really was.

For what it’s worth, Lobo went on ESPN’s “NBA Today” the following morning to heap some very high praise on Wilson.

“Even the best players have stretches during a season where they struggle,” Lobo wrote. “Not A’ja Wilson. Her consistent greatness during this season has been one of the many remarkable aspects of her MVP campaign.”
