The WNBA star and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has been making the headlines lately. This is due to the recent comments from former WNBA legend, Cynthia Cooper. Before this, another WNBA great, Sheryl Swoopes had heavily criticized Clark for her game, which did not go down well with the WNBA community. Nevertheless, Cooper did the opposite recently.

Cooper made a recent appearance on Mark Jackson‘s podcast. She spoke about various topics including the Sheryl Swoops controversy, and Caitlin Clark’s top-notch performances in the league. However, Cooper is just one of many people who are amazed by the rookie’s output.

Oh my God! this is what people don't know about Caitlin...She’s not just a three-point shooter. She’s a great passer, not a mediocre passer, not so-so, she is a great passer. But also she’s crafty. She’s just a rookie. That level of greatness, that level of play on a consistent basis as a rookie puts you up in the upper line of any league, definitely the W.

Cooper seemed to be enthralled by Clark’s performance. With the greatest rookie season in league history, the leading candidate for the 2024 ROTY award is averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game. It remains to be seen how many more records and achievements Clark will add to her name before the end of this WNBA season.

Sheryl Swoopes put an end to the Caitlin Clark controversy

Sheryl Swoopes made it very clear in the past that she is not a ‘Caitlin Clark fan.’ In addition to this, she also picked another WNBA rookie Angel Reese over Clark many times. However, Clark has recently performed much better than Reese. Despite this, Swoopes not acknowledging Clark did not go down well with the basketball community.

This created an unwanted controversy in the WNBA involving Clark. That said, Swoopes recently changed her stance. Swoopes made it known to the people that she does not ‘hate’ Clark. Notably, Swoopes also shared images of her text messages conversation with Clark. As per the texts, both have seemed to put an end to the controversy and move on with life, with Swoopes wishing her the best.

While the two basketball greats have a pleasant chat, it’s odd to see Swoopes consistently downplay Clark’s accomplishments even after these texts were received.
