Cunningham’s Unfiltered Take

Joined by Bravo star and co-host West Wilson, Cunningham didn’t hold back when discussing the ongoing debate surrounding Clark’s status in the league.

“It literally, like, pisses me off when people are like, ‘she’s not the face of the league.’ What?” Cunningham said, expressing her frustration with those who deny Clark’s influence. She continued, “No, there’s really good, well-known people in our league. I’m not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Like, hell yeah to that. I’m all for that. But when people try to argue that she’s not the face of our league or if our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as [expletive].”

Clark’s League-Altering Impact

Sophie Cunningham calls out Caitlin Clark skeptics

Caitlin Clark’s arrival in the WNBA has coincided with a major surge in interest and viewership. In her 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star and NCAA all-time leading scorer shattered rookie records and helped deliver the most-watched season in WNBA history.

Wilson, speaking from an outsider’s perspective, questioned why there has been so much negativity directed at Clark, despite her transformative effect on the league. He noted the confusion over why the league seems to be “bullying” a player who has brought unprecedented attention and growth to women’s basketball.

About the Podcast

Ahead of Indiana’s 107-101 victory over the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham described “Show Me Something” as an unfiltered space where she can discuss aspects of the WNBA often overlooked by traditional sports media.

“It’s fun… You know, it’s unfiltered. And I think that’s something that everyone kind of wants to hear about. I think nowadays you just have to be so filtered and be so careful about how you say things, rather than what people want, which is ‘real’. People want positive things to cling on to,” Cunningham explained.

She added that the podcast, whose first episode is titled “Show Me,” aims to cover a wide range of topics and offer listeners a chance to relax and enjoy candid conversations. “It’s nothing serious, and I think that just kind of fits my vibe,” Cunningham said.
