Taylor Swift’s dad Scott Swift has long been an incredibly supportive parent, but he also played a crucial role in shaping the hitmaker’s early career
Taylor Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, played a key role in her journey to stardom. But what exactly did he do?
At 34, Taylor is a “billionaire” with 10 original studio albums, four re-recorded albums, five EPs, and four live albums under her belt. Before she turned 34 last year, it was revealed that Taylor had a staggering net worth of $1.1 billion.
As of October 2023, Taylor’s net worth stood at $1.1 billion, boosted by the success of her Eras Tour in the US. This total includes $400 million from music released since 2019; $370 million from ticket sales and merchandise; $110 million from the value of her five properties; $120 million from Spotify and YouTube earnings; and $80 million from music royalties.

Taylor’s rise to fame began when she was just a teenager. In 2004, at age 14, she signed a music publishing deal with Sony/ATV. This happened after Scott and Taylor’s mom Andrea decided to move to Hendersonville, near Nashville. Then, in 2006, Taylor signed with Big Machine Records and scored her first Top 40 hit with Tim McGraw, followed by more hit singles and her self-titled debut album.
Reports suggest that Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, who used to work as a stockbroker, owns a stake in the Big Machine Label Group – the label that was the reason Taylor made it big. And this has played a key role in shaping Taylor’s early career. Some fans and critics believe that Taylor’s success was significantly aided by her parents’ wealth.
Scott Swift has always been a supportive parent. In 2019, when Taylor’s fans camped out overnight for Good Morning America, Taylor ordered pizzas for them, which were handed out by her team, including her dad.
Last March, Scott joined Taylor on tour. He often gives out guitar picks to fans. Taylor even made a special “D.O.H. (Dad of Headliner) pass” for him. She shared this on social media, saying: “Made my Dad’s tour credential. We are a small family business.”
