WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes is once again trending on social media because of comments she made about Indiana Fever rookie phenom Caitlin Clark.

Swoopes made an appearance on the latest episode of Gilbert Arenas’ podcast. Earlier this year, she falsely claimed that Clark had an extra year to break the NCAA’s all-time scoring record.

This time around, Arenas and Swoopes talked about Angel Reese’s rivalry with Clark. The former suggested that Reese is embracing the “bully/villain” role in the WNBA.

Swoopes, however, strongly disagreed with Arenas’ take. If anything, she thinks Clark is the “bully” from this year’s rookie class.

“[Reese is] not a bully… If you want to talk about bullies, we can talk about every time Caitlin has the ball she pushes off,” Swoopes said. “I’m just saying.”

It didn’t take long for basketball fans to slam Swoopes on social media for this egregious comment.

David Eickholt said, “It’s impressive how unapologetically off-base she is every single time she talks about the sport she excelled in.”

“You know when you dislike someone so much you don’t even say anything logical? that’s Sheryl with Caitlin,” one fan said.

“I am NOT the biggest Caitlin stan right now but Sheryl go on these podcasts and LIE for no reason. A bully? Thats insane,” another fan wrote. “She isn’t a bully AND the league is physical. 2 things can be true.”

“WNBA vets a month ago: The WNBA is a physical league. Caitlin and other college players aren’t immediately ready for it. Also WNBA vets: Caitlin is a bully for being physical,” a social media user commented.

There’s no question that Clark pushes off her defender from time to time, but that’s a part of the game. You’ll see that almost every single possession in the NBA.

Calling Clark a bully because she’s trying to create separation from her defender is just a huge reach.

We’ll see if Swoopes eventually apologizes for this comment.
