Fans believe the NFL star’s performance may have been impacted by the taboo act
An NFL fan has been accused of ‘performing voodoo’ on a doll with a likeness of Patrick Mahomes during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl blowout defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Following the Birds denying the Chiefs a historic three-peat at the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, quarterback Mahomes, 29, described the loss as the ‘worst thing in the world’.
During the NFL Championship match, the Chiefs star threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean.
He was also sacked six times, lost a fumble, and finished the game with 21 completions out of his 32 pass attempts, including three touchdowns.

“There’s no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst thing in the world… it will stick with you the rest of your career,” he told journalists after the game in Louisiana.
“I mean these will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better, for the rest of my career. Because you only get so few of these [Super Bowls], and you have to capitalise on them.
“It’s going to hurt for a while, but how can you respond from it?”
However, it appears that Mahomes and his teammates’ toothless display could actually have been caused by a fan practising black magic in the stands of Caesars Superdome.
In a viral clip, shared via social media, a woman wearing green for the Eagles could be seen repeatedly rocking back and forth while forcing a needle into a presumed voodoo doll.
The miniature person was dressed in Chiefs’ white and red uniform and featured Mahomes’ No. 15 jersey number.

The video of the woman seemingly doing witchcraft at 59th Super Bowl has spread like wildfire and has already drawn thousands of comments from both gleeful and concerned sports fans.
Some people believe the woman, now dubbed the Super Bowl Witch, was piercing the doll with a pin to direct energy and/or intent towards the person it was crafted to represent.
“When you think you have seen it all in the US then this happens…A woman was caught doing magic during the Super Bowl,” someone remarked online.
“I noticed [Mahomes] looked pale and not well. I thought it was stress,” another user reported.
“That doll is a representation of someone so whatever she’s doing to that doll is also happening to somebody omg,” a third user noted.
A fourth joked that they wanted to ‘acquire her services’ for the upcoming Formula One season, while someone else said: “Sighhhh its just poking holes in dolls people, its just a f****n doll, and doesn’t affect real life. At all. Welcome to the World.”
A sixth typed: “Wow this is just awful. Witchcraft needs to be outlawed. I don’t understand why it’s allowed now in the open like this.”

Following Mahomes’s evening to forget, his mother Randi Mahomes took to social media to pay tribute to his legacy, claiming she was still his ‘biggest cheerleader’.
“Not the ending we wanted, but so incredibly proud of Patrick and this team. No matter what, I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader son,” she wrote alongside images of her family.

There may be a witchy explanation for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ underwhelming Super Bowl 59 performance on Sunday (Feb. 9).
In a viral video that seemingly originated on Reddit, a woman wearing Philadelphia Eagles green was caught on camera repeatedly stabbing a Mahomes voodoo doll with a pin in the stands during the Super Bowl game.
“The woman in front of me at the Super Bowl was doing this for most of the plays. But we won because of it!” the person who posted the video on Reddit alleged.

The move was on brand for New Orleans, where the big game took place, thanks to its long history with voodoo.
Since the traditions of West African slaves and Haitian immigrants intertwined with Catholicism, voodoo has been a well-known part of New Orleans culture, according to the city’s tourism website.
According to Oxford Languages, voodoo dolls are “a small model in the likeness of a particular person, said to be used in spells in which injury done to the model is suffered by the person it represents.”
In this case, it seems the woman’s hex might have worked since Mahomes ended Super Bowl 59 with a quarterback rating of 11.4, the second-lowest of his entire career, per The Daily Mail.
He also threw two interceptions, one of which ended in a touchdown for Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean, who was also celebrating his birthday.
The Eagles won Super Bowl 59 with a score of 40-22 over the Chiefs after leading against the latter with zero points for the majority of the game.
“Appreciate all the love and support from #ChiefsKingdom. I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me. We will be back,” Mahomes tweeted on Feb. 9 after the loss.
