Kamilla Cardoso Sends Heartfelt Message After Breakout Performance vs. Sparks
Angel Reese was not the only rookie who came through on Saturday night as the Chicago Sky defeated the Los Angeles Sparks at the crypto.com Arena, 90-86.
For her part, Reese amassed her 19th double-double of the season after logging 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win. It was Chicago’s other rookie, Kamilla Cordoso, however, who stole the show with an incredible performance of her own.
Cardoso went off for 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, to go along with 14 rebounds, three assists, a steal, two blocks, and zero turnovers in 28 minutes of action.
This was arguably the best we’ve seen from the Sky’s no. 3 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft. After the game, Cardoso sent a heartfelt shoutout to her teammates and coaches for their unwavering support.
“I just listen to my coaches and teammates,” Cardoso said, via Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times. “They show me love and support. It makes me confident to go out there in a great way.”
Cardoso, who was selected four spots ahead of Reese during the draft, is not exactly a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year title. However, she has been an integral part of Chicago’s success this season, averaging 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per contest.
More importantly, Cardoso is expected to be a central figure for the Sky for the years to come. Tonight was merely a preview of what the 6-foot-7 center is capable of.
