The front office isn’t the only one that takes recruiting seriously.

A team’s fans are just as well, if not more, persistent when it comes to luring big names as and when the opportunity arises.

And it seems a Knicks fan tried his hand at doing exactly that when Anthony Edwards was within earshot.

Did the hooper agree?

One of the shocking trades close to the start of the 2024-25 season was between the Wolves and New York.

The breaking up of the ‘Nova Knicks,’ as well as separating ANT and his running mate Karl-Anthony Towns, in the process.

But the new additions seem to be settling well into their respective teams.

That still doesn’t change the fact that many secretly hoped things would just go back to the way it was.

And perhaps the above-mentioned fan was looking to capitalize on that emotion when he tried to get Anthony Edwards to move to the Knicks!

Yes, you read that correctly. Hilariously enough, the Wolves superstar had a prompt response for the impromptu recruiter.

“If I play bad, y’all are going to be like ‘Booo!’” Edwards was heard saying in a leaked clip.

However, nothing the Ant-Man said seemed to have any effect on the enthusiastic fan, who continued repeating in the viral video, “Come to New York!”

Anthony Edwards’ reason is not completely devoid of merit.

The New York crowd isn’t simply a ‘to death and beyond’ fanbase.

As long as the team plays well, they can expect the greatest support.

The minute things go downhill, the players witness a volley of criticism flowing in.

And it seems like Ant isn’t too keen on playing in an atmosphere of that sort, despite the glitz and glam of the ‘Big Apple’.

Interestingly, this comes in the wake of a contradictory statement from the man himself in probably the same preseason matchup against the Knicks.

Anthony Edwards hinted at a “reunion” with KAT, despite his commitment to Minnesota

When the former teammates met for the first time after Towns was traded to NYC, the pair exchanged their jerseys.

And it seemed to be sometime in that moment that a fan was heard saying from the crowd, “Once that contract is up, New York baby,” to ANT!

The 23-year-old, for his part, had a heart-racing (both the good and bad kind) reply.

Given the Wolves haven’t played against the Knicks after their preseason matchup, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the above-mentioned incident took place in the very same game that Anthony Edwards dismissed the recruiter fan.

Suffice it to say that it has left fans with more questions than answers.

It also doesn’t help that in a recent cover story with ESPN, the 2020 top pick reiterated his commitment to the T-Wolves.

“If I can, I’m trying to be here for my whole career,” Anthony Edwards said in the story alongside Vikings WR, Justin Jefferson.

Well, what do you make of the whole thing?

Is there a possibility of Anthony Edwards donning a New York Knicks jersey in the foreseeable future?

Or will he be a one-team man for the entirety of his career?
