Florida artist demands $7 million after the legal filing.

The artists’ advocate has issued a statement in favour of the Florida artist saying, “she not be a well-known nation author.

but she created works that were unique, not borrowed from anywhere else.

and went to lengths to ensure they would be protected in hopes she would be afforded the same protection as everyone else, no matter how known or unknown they are.”

She further stated, “Just because Taylor Swift is a very [well-known] singer, doesn’t mean that the Plaintiff was aware of the specific lyrics she sang as soon as she produced her albums.”

As per Kimberly, she started listening to Taylor Swift only after she went on one of her concerts during the Eras Tour in 2024.

It made her connect the dots and the alleged similarities between both of their music produces.

Taylor Swift’s lawyers back the case claiming the charges are ‘time-barred’.

On January 21, the pop star’s lawyers backed her and filed a motion to dismiss the suit.

They notified that all the alleged claims Kimberly Marasco is filing must be filed within three years of the plaintiff’s learning of the alleged infringement.

But since her complaint was filed in April 2024, Taylor Swift’s albums.

which she targeted, were released long before 2021 and hence, according to lawyers.

more than 50% of the claims in Kimberly’s official filing are ‘time-barred’.

For the unversed, Kimberly Marasco, a Florida artist, filed a lawsuit against Taylor Swift and her production firm in April 2024.

alleging that Swift’s songs and music videos from albums such as LoverFolklore, and Midnights contained “creative elements” plagiarized from Marasco’s work without her consent or acknowledgment.

Marasco sought damages exceeding $7 million.
