The Kansas City Chiefs have a problem on their hands. On Friday night, Xavier Worthy was arrested on a very disturbing charge.
Worthy proved to be an impact player for the Chiefs as a rookie, hauling in 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns during the regular season.
The speedster from Texas was even better in the playoffs, racking up 287 yards and three touchdowns in Andy Reid’s offense.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid recently told reporters that he envisions a larger role on offense for Worthy next season.
His opinion may change though after this week’s development.
Worthy was arrested on Friday in Williamson County, Texas on a criminal charge of assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.
The talented playmaker’s camp has not yet released a statement.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, had this to say about Worthy’s arrest: “We are aware and gathering information.”

Let’s just say NFL fans are furious with that statement from the Chiefs.
They believe it shows a lack of accountability, especially after all the Rashee Rice drama they dealt with last offseason.
“Pretty much standard for that team. Just terrible people all around,” one fan declared.
“Scheduled offseason statement,” another fan said.
“Pathetic statement,” a third fan replied.
Worthy was quickly becoming a fan favorite in Kansas City.
Even his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, raved about his capabilities.
“I always knew Xavier was going to be a great football player just because obviously the talent’s there.
but the way he works, I mean he gets after it,” Mahomes said. “He’s extremely smart.
We put a lot on his plate, and he just wants more.
He wants to continue to be better and be great for the football team.”
Now that Worthy has been arrested, Chiefs fans are unsure about what he can be for the team and the community.
The NFL will certainly investigate this situation since Worthy’s alleged actions violate the league’s personal conduct policy.
However, there’s no guarantee he’ll miss games next season due to suspension.
