Kansas City Chiefs gamble on Patrick Mahomes as trade rumors swirl around Tyreek Hill.
Hill has cut a very frustrated figure in the Miami Dolphins’ offense throughout 2024.

Is Tyreek Hill set for a return to the Kansas City Chiefs and a reunion with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
The star wide receiver has been spotted posting his old highlights from Arrowhead Stadium, but why will Andy Reid bank on his quarterback instead?
Hill, dubbed the cheetah due to his speed, has struggled to find form in the absence of Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, and has only managed to produce 286 yards from 23 receptions for one touchdown.
It’s a long way shy from the pace the 30-year-old set in 2023 when he led the league with 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns from 119 receptions and has left him feeling frustrated as the season looks set to become a write-off in Florida.
Wide receivers are the thing in the current market, with Davante Adams also on the trade block, so could Hill be set to leave the Hard Rock Stadium and could he return to Missouri to star in front of Taylor Swift once again?
“Locked in wayyyy before I walk in,” Hill posted to Snapchat, showing highlights of him in Chiefs’ gear in what could be a subtle call out to his old team, who he played for between 2016-2021 and became a Super Bowl champion with.
Could the Chiefs trade for Hill?
Clark Hunt’s team could take the bait too. They need another receiver to back up Kelce after losing Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown for the season through injury, whilst running back Isiah Pacheco is also sidelined.

Hill would offer an excellent blend of speed, power and experience to the offense and give Mahomes a new weapon to target, especially on the 40+ yard attempts the 29-year-old likes to throw.

However, money could be an issue.
The base salary of $1,210,000 means that if the Chiefs pick him up then they will take an $11.9 million dead cap hit in 2024 and a $19.3 million dead cap hit in 2025, although they will open up $8.4m in 2025 cap space so it could work for the ongoing season.
But from next season, the Chiefs would need to find a way to fit Hill’s $27.8m contract into their $25m cap space.
That’s an oversight of $2.8m that they would somehow need to reallocate meaning a move for Hill is not likely to happen, although it’s an interesting idea.
