Andy Reid’s Egregious Decision Doomed the Chiefs in Bills Disaster.

The Chiefs dropped a completely winnable game against the Bills in Week 11. Maybe Kansas City could’ve pulled another magic trick.but Andy Reid’s ill-fated decision late in the fourth quarter doomed the defending two-time Super Bowl champions.

 

Reid elected to kick an extra point down 23-19.

Typically, that would be a good decision.

Unfortunately for the undefeated Chiefs, it spelled disaster in the most critical moment of the year.

Josh Allen’s fourth-down rushing TD virtually sealed Buffalo’s win.

yet it wouldn’t have happened if Reid was more agressive in his play-calling.

Reasonable minds will disagree, but math tells you Reid’s decision cost the Chiefs a chance at winning.

 

If Kansas City had converted the two-point attempt, they would’ve been down by just two points.

Allen could’ve scored a TD just the same and head coach Sean McDermott, who is known for his conservative style just like Reid is.

would’ve likely kicked an extra point.

That would’ve left Kansas City down just eight points instead of nine.

giving Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce time to conjure up some magic.

The opposite argument suggests that success by the Chiefs would leave the Bills enough time to utilize the same aggression.

However, that’s the same game plan they utilized on the final drive that worked regardless.

Allen cooked Steve Spagnuolo’s defense all day, why not let Mahomes try to keep the Chiefs in the game.

Even if Kansas City fell short, McDermott’s history as a conservative coach suggests he would’ve have pushed the gas to the floor if Mahomes didn’t convert.

By any conceivable measure, Reid let his team down.

 

It doesn’t happen often, but Sunday was an example of how he simply has to be more aggressive knowing that the best athlete on the planet plays for his team.
