The Chiefs remained undefeated with a 27-20 Week 8 victory over the Raiders that wasn’t as close as the final score suggested.

While there were some negatives from an injury standpoint, WR DeAndre Hopkins’ debut went swimmingly.

He caught only two passes for 29 yards but quickly made an impact, converting a key early third-down play showcasing his stellar hands.

Once Hopkins has more time to learn the playbook and develop chemistry with Patrick Mahomes, it’s easy to see how dangerous this duo could be.

Based on Mahomes’ post-game comments, he’s thrilled with the acquisition.

“I thought he did a great job,” Mahomes told reporters after the win.

“It was third down, and he had the big catch early in the game, and then he had a couple of other big plays.

I missed him on the one corner route early but still got open.

And then, as I looked back at the tablet, there were a couple of times where, in man coverage, he was just really working and winning.”

It was an exciting development for an offense that’s lacked firepower.

Perhaps it’s no coincidence that Mahomes had one of his best games of the season, completing 27 of his 38 attempts for 262 yards and a pair of TDs.

“Even the touchdown to Trav (Travis Kelce) I threw, if you look back on his side, he’s open too for a touchdown there,” Mahomes continued.

“Now that you see that.

it shows that if they’re going to play man coverage against him, he’s going to get open.

I have to give him chances to go out there and make plays.”

Mahomes will certainly have plenty of chances to throw to Hopkins moving forward.

The Chiefs have a pivotal Week 9 showdown with the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football next week.

All of a sudden, an undefeated season legitimately feels on the table.
